Mothers of drug addict/s-do you regret having this child?

Living with a drug addict can be a very painful thing. I am not the mother of one... but I cant imagine that even with all you go through ,you could even think that. You need to get yourself some therapy so that you can cope with this child who is ruining his/her life right in front of you. Al-Anon is a good start.

I am a mother. But not a mother of a drug addict. I was the drug addict. And because My mom never gave up on me and stood by my side when I needed her it helped me to realize that I had to stop. Not saying that she bailed me out. Never did. Went to jail she never came, I asked for money, she didn't give it to me. But when I got straight she was there to help me stay straight. It is hard to watch people you love throw away their life for nothing. It's even easier for people who never went threw it to look outside looking in. A drug addict does drugs because something made them not want to be them anymore and the drugs make them feel anything but themselves. I would not ever regret having a child regardless how they turn out. being a mother you should love your child unconditionally. Not just if they are lucky and turn good. Your child needs you more now than ever. Its an everyday battle. But the war they are fighting isn't over yet, they are still alive and have a chance to change and live.

its hard watching them make the same mistakes over and over and over again. my children are too young to make a decision like that, so i'm not quite in the right frame of mind to answer this, but i think i would have to say I wouldnt regret having them. God placed them in my care for a reason and i'd be counting my blessings for them (try hard to find those blessings). Good luck, my friend...
