I love my cat and don't want him to be in any pain, or be in risk of dying. He is pretty young, sorta.

Could be a couple of things. Allergies or mange. Time for a vet check.

If you only feed him dry cat food it may be lack of oils in his diet. We have three cats, all three years old. We give them a can a day of wet cat food.

Also, my male Eddie gets dry patches and hair loss once in a while from over grooming himself, or a couple times when we had fleas. We bathed him in oatmeal bath and put Vitamin E oil on his fur for him to lick off. It helps from inside and out. Both oatmeal bath and the oil can be found cheaply at Walmart.

Seeing a vet uis always good, too.

my cat has an allergy to fleas... if he is bitten by a flea from anywhere...he scratches all the time even though he hasnt got fleas as i have to make sure he doesnt get them and that there are none in the house.... but one can jump on them outside and bite them...causing the reaction...he has to take steroid tablets to stop him scratching constantly.....his fur goes thin and patches appear quite quickly....from licking and scratching...till the steroids take effect... hes 10 now and has had this since he was a kitten... id pop your cat to the vet ...just to be on the safe side...

Overweight cats can't reach every where to clean that could be the problem. On a more real note you should come in. We might need to do a skin scrape due to a rash. maybe dander, could be a bite, poison, or a number of things bring him in.... soon!

This may be a dry-skin problem. I think you might have to go to a vet for this one. Dry fur and thin fur might definitely be symptoms of dry skin.

Take him to the vet, and (gross though it may be) have a stool sample. It could be dietary (allergic to something in his food or not getting enough of something). It also could be just psychological, I believe they have meds for that as well. Either way, take him to the vet, you'll both feel better :-)

it could be ring worm which is a infection in a spot on the skin or it could be mange, mange is like a very small mite that irritates the skin all over, if it's in one spot I would think it's a ring worm and is totally treatable, so goodluck.

It's common for pets to get dry or bald spots on their bodies. If it's anything more, you need to seek veterinary assistance.
