Has anyone out there worked with a special needs child and had become close to him or her and his or her family and now he had been placed in an institution ?

no but i can imagine the bond u form w/ that child...its' like no other...but that doesnt mean u cant be in that child's life...unless the parents place a restraining order on u...just talk to the parents and ask if u can visit...they should understand....=)

Guess there's nothing much you can do as the decision for child to be in institution was made by the family. Can imagine the attachment you had with child/family but I guess life goes on. Move on, erase the attachment (I know, easier said than done; but why worry over something you have no control of?) or pay visits to the child as and when you can. Cheers!

if the place is better for him/her then it would be selfish for you to want him/her to be in a place that is not best for him/her just caused you miss him/her. stop being selfish and think of the child if this place is truly best at this point and time for him/her then move on without forgetting the good times
