Every religion has a creation myth but all lack the one thing, proof. Believing in something to be true does not make it true. The only thing that has proof in our creation is Science. Only with the tools of Science have we begun to understand where we truly come from. With something called Evolution through Natural Selection.

If we claim to be a intelligent people, then we must accept the elegant truths revealed by science. Carl Sagan once said "Science has carried human self-consciousness to a higher level" Think about that statement. How can religion ever claim to say that when all religion does is restrict the discoveries of Science. It started 2500 years ago and it continues today.

Evolution is a contingient truth, just like all other facts of observation.

But that said, evolution is rejected by some religious people for religious reasons, not for rational reasons. Faith isn't rational, so it makes little sense to expect rational thought from people who have already told you they believe things through faith.

Interestingly, the same faith that religion exploits does have merit in a pre-scientific tribal setting, where knowledge was passed down from generation to generation about plants that were edible or had healing properties, etc. Those who were willing to simply trust what those in authority told them had an advantage.

That isn't so true anymore at this point in history.

well i am atheist. i believe that evolution is in fact true. i have proof. there arguments are a lot of the time stupid and un-educated, but i here present u with one of education. even if evolution is true could it not just explain how a god did his work. religion cannot be proven false and neither could we. we have our proof, the have something without a possible proof until after death. do not try to attempt a petty argument against the for it will not succeed. i leave you with this answer.

You seem to be pushing science as a religion. Your quote from Carl Sagan is bringing you to a higher level, why don't you just ask him?

Many Christians do enroll in the concept of evolution on an analogous time as they preparation their faith. those are those who have not willingly forfeited their intelligence in choose of the pseudo-medical nonsense of "creationism." The dummies who insist that "creationism" and "smart layout" are info were swayed via Christian leaders with ulterior causes. the easy reality is that "creationism" and id were invented via smart non secular scammers to justify and perpetuate the lie that the international became made by way of their biblical god purely 6,000 years in the past, utilising pseudo-mathematics to go back up with the confirm. the mandatory reason became to shop the Bible "suitable," and the ulterior purpose became - and nevertheless is - protecting the flock intact and hence persevering with the tithes and donations. The valid medical community has before laughed away the inability of familiar medical tactics in touch interior the Christian "theory of introduction." My participation right here on R&S makes me finish that many usually smart Christians willingly and delusionally forfeit that area of their intellects that allow them reason, be logical and rational, and to adhere to experience even as considering "creationism" against the similar old theory of evolution (which has a TON of evidence to help it). it truly is a form of mind lack of existence, and that i'll't do something about it except to enlarge my condolences. Edit @ johnson1234 - The argument via Talmage for a "divine author" is unsuitable because it truly is grounded in philosophy and by no ability medical evidence. the most important fallacy is to ascribe "divine introduction" to the Biblical "God," because all and sundry who can particularly imagine will finish that there is not any way the type of very imagined god might want to be the author of something. The Christian "God" might want to be actual pushed aside as patently absurd and impressive.

Because superstition is easier to graps that reality. Because tradition is easier to accept than science. Because fear is easier than knowledge. It really boils down to that.
