Just curious, but does anyone know the answers to these questions?

We have 7 cats at home. When I went and bought rolls of toilet paper in quantities of 4 and sealed in plastic wrap, I came out only 4 minutes later and found it partially chewed on.

When I went to clean the cat boxes, I came out four minutes later and found Booters partly wrapped and *happy* in an empty garbage bag which I had just LINED! lol

There were holes chewed out and claw marks in the whole thing!

Why do cats do this?

dear sky,
cats are cute balls of fur who love to play a lot. the smell of food in the garbage cans attracts them, and as the cat is a descendant of the wildcats, they are generally scavengers, and therefore would like to scavenge in the garbage can, the closest they can get to the wild in a city.
again, as they love to play with balls and any round objects that can roll about, so your TP are not safe. presumably, you got rolls of tp. you can substitute the tp rolls for those in boxes and get a few balls to scatter around the house so that the cat can easily access them and play around without damaging the rest of your accessories.
hope this was helpful.

There is something about paper that cats like.

Whether it's the smell, the sound or the feel, a paper bag is close to cat nirvana

Mine chews as well.

That's just too cute! Imagine a world where not even your toilet paper is safe.

Have to keep your eye on those little buggers all the time.

Did you hear about the one where the lady went away on a trip. When she returned she found her toothbrush in the litterbox. How's that for, "Don't you ever leave me again!"

I was laughing for over an hour.

hahaha i bet thats was cute though. They love to play with the rolls of TP because its soft on thier claws and the bag thing is like a hiding place to hide for the big attack they're planning. I love cats

I think its laziness. True, they are hunters; but if they smell food, they probably won't turn it down. If they just like the smell of the plastic, think about this. You can smell the hot plastic of a bag put outside for garbage pick up. They might link the smell of it to what they find in the bags, food! I think about pizza when I handle cardboard @ my work. (I don't work around pizza btw. lol) It might just be association sense.

Cats like things that crinkle and also any kind of string to play with. Unfortunately once a cat gets something in it's mouth it is unable to spit it out due to the barbs on it's tongue. This is why they puke up stuff a lot !
