portillos is good, and theyve maintained the hot dog stand feel to their dogs even though they are a big rest now,and theyare a chain. the best dogs are still ones that you get at the ball park

Yeah, Weiner's Circle is pretty good, but I hate the late night crowd where all the drunk people try to outdo each other with the insults to the cooks.

Flukey's is pretty good and I think they still have a couple of locations left. Demon Dogs is gone but they were great. And you have to go to Superdawg on the far northwest side.

But Hot Doug's is probably the best. (http://metromix.chicagotribune.com/search/42492,0,1080974.venue) They serve a regular basic hot dog, but also have hot dogs made with phesant, rabbit, duck, even kangaroo. The fries are cooked in duck fat and are DELICIOUS! And you have so many topping choices that you could go for a few months without eating the exact same hot dog. check it out.

Poochie's on Dempster in Skokie, but they are only open during the daytime. For late-night dog dining, try Superdawg's on Milwaukee in Edgebrook or Donald Duk's on Ashland in West Town
