There are three kinds of good people in the world--dogmatist, activist, and ritualist.
Dogmatism is when the person ONLY reads the Bible or other scriptures everyday; activism is when the person ONLY does good things like charity; and ritualism is when the person ONLY goes to church to woship. These three things are interconnected and must not at any point be separated with the other two.
Notice that I emphasized the word "only." Therefore to answer your question, reading the bible isn't enough for you to go to heaven. The other two--good morals and right worship--must also support the person's searching of truth.
Remember, our religion may be blamed for us feeling a little empty. But its sole purpose is to improve the person's life. If you feel that Christianity is not for you, God will not force you to be cooped up in the religion. Rather, he gives you the freedom to choose other paths.

Hey pal, you can read the Bible every day of your life and gain only information about the early life of the Hebrews, etc.
Now the difference is, if you believe in God, He makes His Word come alive. And alive in you.
You say some Christians barely pick up the Bible. What you really meant to say was that some people rarely pick up the Bible.
Notice the upper case letter "B" in Bible. This shows reverence to the Word of God.
My advise to you is to not be so concerned about others in the world until you get yourself right with God. Then you will be amazed at how much you will be able to do with God on your side.><>

If you reject the Bible...You wouldn't believe in heaven ..so tht wouldnt be a problem would it? Ican't say if the Christians that don't pick up the Bible is going to heaven or hell. I'm glad dthat is a decision that I don't have to make.

Is that a rhetorical question, or are you really considering reading through the whole Bible? If you are, I would start in the Gospel of John.
And by the way, I am one Christian who did read through the whole Bible.

I think you made a small classifying error. If they don't read their bible, then they are not Christians.
My fiance' reads his EVERY single day, and for hours at a time. I am not able to physically find the time to read mine, so I listen to it on CD in the car or on my iPod. But, it's all in the effort. If you do not read the Bible, then you can "call" yourself a Christian all you want, but the question is...What does God call you?

My personal opinion... and I'm sure to get reemed for it but I don't really care... is that the Bible has no factor when it comes to heaven and hell. You as a person is a detertmination. I have known devout christians who swear by the bible but were horrible human beings... so, it is doubtful theat religion is the sole key to an access pass through the pearly gates.

Whether you go to heaven or hell has nothing to do with effort. It has to do with what you believe.
John 3:16-18
16"For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only Son,[f] that whoever believes in him shall not perish but have eternal life. 17For God did not send his Son into the world to condemn the world, but to save the world through him. 18Whoever believes in him is not condemned, but whoever does not believe stands condemned already because he has not believed in the name of God's one and only Son.[g]
You might then ask, "What if I say I believe and go on living however I want?" Christians aren't perfect, they still sin, but the stronger your faith the more you will want to live a Godly life. Sincere belief in Jesus changes the way you live.

It is not a matter of reading the Bible and Reject it if you go to Heaven or not. It is if you reject or not JESUS if you go to to Heaven or be eternally separate from GOD.
