Depends on the type of plastic it is. Some plastics do give off emissions, and these aren't especially good for you. At least, no one knows exactly how harmful they could be in the long run, because they haven't been in use for generations.
I do know someone who uses the frozen dinners but takes them out of the containers and puts them in a glass pie plate before heating them up. Probably not a bad idea if you are concerned.

Yes. According to a recent advisory issued by the DuPont Corporation you and I should NEVER use any kind of plastic or styrofoam in a microwave. The reson given is that when plastics are heated in a microwave they release dioxin which is carsinogen.

Yes. Some plastics when put in the microwave release carcinogens. Whenever using the microwave put your food in a proper dish.

No, it's the way that the food is cooked and how much salt is in it. I don't think a plastic coating would affect the quality of the food significantly.

I have heard that, too. I didn't find anything about it on Snopes.com, but who knows? Everything we eat, almost, has carcinogens in it, so it could be totally possible.
