I have a dvd that has a movie on it. It works fine until abou halfway through the movie where it begins to freeze up. What can i do to fix the disc. Should i use like a disc cleaner or a scratch remover or something?

Take a look at the playing surface(the shiny side) and see if you can see any scratches no matter how small running from top to bottom. Then you need to resurface the disk either with a machine bought at a store for this purpose or take it to a shop that will charge you a small fee to do it.
If you see finger prints on the surface use isapropal alcohol and a soft clean rag to wipe it from the inside edge or outside edge toward the opposite edge and work your way around the disk .
Also check the other side to see if there is a corresponding scratch on that side if so the DVD may be broken and will not play as the recording layer is broken.

Just take it to a game store. Most will resurface it for about a dollar. This is much better than having to buy a new one. You may just want to clean it with some alcohol to see if that helps first.
