You are kidding, right? Never mind the fact that ironing your hair is horribly damaging and shouldn't ever be done, even with a straightening iron. Using a clothes iron has the potential for totally destroying your hair in the blink of an eye, not to mention the risk of seriously burning your scalp or face!
Now, that would be a pretty forst day of school look. Bandages and fried, ruined hair. Foxy!
Why not just rock your natural, thick, beautiful curls? Do you know how many women pay a lot of money to try to have hair like yours? Wash, condition, gently blot out the worst of the water, add a curl cream, scrunch, just to form your curls, and dry with a diffuser on cool or air dry. Don't mess with or touch your hair after that. You will have drop-dead gorgeous hair. And no damage. What could be prettier than that?

Your ceramic iron should do the trick. Blow dry first with a round brush until the hair is almost dry. Then straighten with the ceramic iron. Use the hottest setting and your hair will be straight but not puffy.

Ok if you want to use the iron be careful. My mother had long curly hair when she was younger and she used to have her mother iron her hair. It worked for her but she found something easier. This may sound ghetto but it worked. She would roll her hair on orange juice cans and let it dry. She would have a slight wave that could be brushed out once dry. Good luck. PS I agree if you have thick curly hair go with that! And please don't ever think of permanently straightening your hair. Trust me when I say its is horribly damaging. They comb the perm solution through your hair. When you have the perm solution in the molecules that hold your hair together are broken making it very easy to break your hair. Hence the reason peoples hair gets broken by the bands on perm rods.

NO! DO NOT use a clothing iron. lol. Your ceramic will do just fine. Wash and straighten it Sunday night and sleep on it. Make sure you section your hair off in tiny sections and go over your hair 2 or 3 times maybe even run some hair puddy through your hair after you get done straighting it. my moms a cosmetologist so trust me my hairs the same way.

I personally would not use a clothing iron on your hair. My friend did that once....she has very long and very curly thick hair and it completely fried her hair. Sometimes if you do two rounds on the hair straightener, it wont come out as puffy. Make sure you have it on the right setting also.

First off, I think curlier hair is prettier than straight, but that's just my opinion. Now down to the good stuff:
Nicky. Hate to tell you this, but if you end up using the clothing iron on your head, BAD THINGS WILL HAPPEN. Try buying a straightening cream, this'll help things.
Good luck, and remember: if you use a clothing iron, you will have bigger things to worry about than the straightness of your hair.

Flat irons are made for hair and that should work if you get a good CHI one. For permanent straightness of kinky hair, you can go to the salon, although expensive, and get a reverse perm. They straighten it in hours. It grows back out to be curly, but you'll have about 6 months of straight hair. I've seen it on tv and it's amazing!!

Let me guess...the ceramic iron is a Conair, right? Those things aren't worth the box they come in. ...But they're still better than clothing irons! If straight-straight hair is really your goal, invest in a high-quality flat iron and read lots of product reviews on styling products. Good luck!

You shouldn't use a clothing iron. What you should do, is first use a hair product like frizz-ease and once you put that on your hair use a blow dryer and then use your ceramic irons. Also, when using your ceramic irons use a hair product that will help maintain your straightness.

NO, NO, NO!! Get a product to put on your hair like Loreal Hot straightener before using your flat iron. Pull hair up and iron in sections starting from the bottom up. I had the same problem until my beautician showed me how to use my hair flat iron correctly.
