Do you have to go to school to get an education? No, but it's an easier way.

Whatever you're hoping to be "saved" from, won't be helped by going into a church. Even in the bible, there is no mention of churches.

No not a bit. In Hebrews there is mention of not forsaking the gathering together of the brethern. Thats all church was meant to be. Don't get caught up into American church mentality. God is not american. But long story short is no - not at all. But it is VERY good to get together with other belivers. (Thats what church si supposed to be anyways, get together in a house or something).
Blessings
Also might I add, going to church is not a Thank you. I mean tha tin love. But there is no Credits with God. He loves you as much RIGHT now as he ever Will. And that amount is PERFECT.
If you want to thank him, do what Jesus says to do.
He doesnt meantion Church.
Blessings.

ehh there are different philosophies. Many say that all you have to do is be baptized, others say that you just have to have faith... could be true. I'm a Christian but I'm very close with some agnostics who haven't been baptized, and I personally believe that faith will get you saved but you can also be saved if you're a good person but don't have faith. A lot of people say to this belief that that gives good people no reason to go to church and I disagree with that.

the purpose of attending church is to worship God collectivly, fellowship with other believers and have accountabilty also its to get fed the word of God, typically christians that dont attend services on a regular basis do not grow spiritually and dont do much for God, but church isnt the pre requisite to being saved but its commanded once you are saved

In order to be saved, you have to believe that Jesus is your Lord and Savior.
Going to church is a great way to say thank you and to give back to Him through praise. It's also a great place to meet fellow believers and strengthen your faith.

to be saved you need to beleive that Jesus Christ is the son of God and that he died for your sins, rising again.
Church can be anywhere, not just in a building,Church is any place where people gather together to grow in God and praise him as well as sharing and learning his word
