Actually thats pretty simple since I'm in the packaging industry.

You can stamp out a square box from a piece of cardbord reall quick like and it doesn't cost much.

Now imagine trying to make a lid for a round box, or folding up the edges so the lid would fit. It COULD be done but it would be expensive.. The square boxes cost like 25 cents each.
A round box would be $2.00

Round is traditional. They're historically called Pizza pie, and pies are generally round. Square is specialty or deep dish. They're often smaller than the average small round. Besides, a square pizza that's the average large size wouldn't fit in a round box very well, this day and age. They should make round boxes, at least, as a test, though.

Wow, I have thought of that question along time ago. But never knew why.
I think its because of the way they slice the pizza. I think many people don't like square slices and so that is my guess in why they make the pizza's round and the boxes square.

I don't think they have figured out yet how to make the boxes round. I hope one day they will.

Interesting observation. It's simple economics: 1. easy to make a round pizza and
2. more difficult to make a round box

Round boxes would be too difficult to manufacture and would end up costing more.

Plus what would you do with square pizzas if you had round boxes?

Because either round or square pizzas are easier to handle in square boxes and don't have a tendency to shift around.

It's easier to make a pizza round as it's easier to make a box square

It is hard to throw a pizza dough in the air and make it square! Also the corners would burn faster when cooked.Women made the dough round for years like breads, pie crusts, etc. It is harder and more expensive to make round boxes.

Pizzas r round bcoz it is easiest to make round pizzas than square or triangle (know how they make it?).

the Box is square bcoz it is easiest to make a square or rectangle packaging box so that they could assemble it easily whn it is time.
