i also want to burn these pictures to a dvd.. it is boring to watch without a little background music

I put together slideshows with ProShow Gold. It's a very slick program. You might also be able to do it with Nero.

One way would be to do it as a PowerPoint presentation (put one or more pictures per slide). You might want to look at Microsoft Producer. It is a free program, and lets you enhance slides with audio. You can also use video effects and transitions.
Producer may be downloaded from the Microsoft Web site. A tutorial is also available.
