I met a guy online and we have been communicating for the past 3 weeks via email and IM. He gave me his number last week and then I gave him mine...he said he would call soon, but it has been 4 days. Sometimes it is hard to get through on my cell...but who knows. He emails every day and sometimes 3 or 4 times a day, except for today. But it is his birthday and I wanted to call him...but don't want to be forward. If he really wanted to talk to me wouldn't he call? I mentioned in an email that I thought about calling him but didn't and his response was that I really should have. Should I call?

He wanted you to have his number for a reason- so you could call him. 'nuff said.
Also, there's nothing wrong w/calling him up to wish him a happy birthday. You're not being forward, you're just being a good friend.

If he doesn't live within reasonable driving distance, forget it and break off contact. The trouble with meeting people online (I have some experience here) is that you don't really have any good reason to trust them. Everything you know could be a lie. The same applies to telephone conversation.
You need to spend a significant period of face-to-face time to get to know somebody. Even if they were 100% sincere, they may not know themselves as well as they think!
If he does live close, go on a double date first. Don't trust him any more than if he was a stranger off the street. You may find good reason to trust him, but give it time to be sure.

YES....especially if it's his birthday. Use that as the excuse and say you just wanted to wish him Happy Birthday on the phone rather than e-mail. Go for it.

if you really want to call him call him but if hes never called you he might not be calling you becuase hes an old fart dont start computer relationships if you have never met the person they could be a murderer or somthing dont call him let him call you then take the realationship seriously
