CHINA CHINA CHINA !!!!! I have visited over 40 countries, but I hate to admit even to my chinese friends back at home that their country was the worst ever. Highly polluted, rude people, very selfish, obsessed with money, scams by the dozen. Would define China at the best. The language barrier is the worst ever. If I can be positive, ill admit it as a rich cultural and historical background. The great wall is awesome and the forbidden city also . Even there tough I have to be negative sorry ! The 3rd largest country in the world and one of the oldest cultural past (5000 years) I think its missing historical landmarks and visiting place. People sugest you need weeks to visit all. This is the worst suggestion I have ever had, lol . Your trip after a week will be the same thing on and on. Beijing is a must ( great wall, forbiden city, sumer palace, tian' namen square, Shanghai is overated alot. Hong kong is cool if you like nightlife and all, then you need to visit the country side and maybe xian which is nice. Then you are done with China. Yet some people say it takes months to visit. Well sure ! If they want to experience the same thing over and over again. I was there 1 month and even after 3 days I had enough. The food is often good, but you can get better chinese in western countries lol , fish is good always fresh ( they keep tanks in restaurants) . I think the worst from all the trip is really the way the poeple there handle tourism. Yes I have went to poor africans and south americans countries and people there try to scam you, thats normal they are poor and they see foreigners as a treasure. But let me tell you China is the worst : family will try to make you have dinner and let you to pay, people pretending to be art student to lure you in a art exhibit, its all factory art, all girls there are either scared or to shy of foreigners and they are gold diggers that wants to lure u in a bar that they know the owner and will order expensive cognac, again you will be left with a bill. If you really want to go to China think again, but if you have to go theres one advice I can give you : Master the art of intimidation !!!! Chinese are really easy to intimidate, if your stuck in a scam, or even in legal trouble. Believe me its not like what is beleived in the west. Chinese authorities actually want to avoid trouble with foreigners. Believe it, I even scared a custom agent because I forgot to declare a bottle of alccool. He raised is voice at me and I raised back he looked down and sais sorry sir you have to decalre can u please go back to the declaration, I just left the bottle there and he said it was okay. An act that would have caused me legal trouble in Us or Canada. Did I also mentioned they might spit on you or push you while your in line, well enough for China. make yourself a favor and dont step there.

Italy. And I really hate saying that because it's not like it's an ugly backwards country and the people suck, or anything like that. I just found the people to be a little too.... what's the word I'm looking for?.... volatile. But I think it has more to do with us Americans than with them. They don't mind showing their displeasure to anyone and I had a hard time understanding what upsets them and what doesn't upset them. For example, I spilled something in the hotel lobby and when I apologized to the clean-up staff, they got real annoyed NOT for the accident, but for the fact that I was apologizing: "Why do you apologize!? We know it was an accident! You think we think you did it on purpose!? If you want to pay for it, then fine, you pay for it, but it would be silly for you to pay for it because this is our job! This is what we do!" And it was said loudly. I wanted to go crawl under a rock somewhere and die.

Mexico. I can't tell you how many half toothless men offered my husband money to sleep with me! YUK. It stinks of diesel fuel fumes - Course if all you do is sit around at the hotel pool you don't see this. My girlfriend got her breast slit open with a knife because some kid wanted to steal her purse. I saw purposely maimed children(by their own parents, no less) begging on street corners. Truckloads of marijuana were being loaded all thru the countryside, yet we kept getting stopped so they could inspect our vehicle for illegal drugs. We drove all through Mexico, by the way. Although there was one small village outside Quetaro, and I probably spelled that totally wrong without looking at a map, where the people were absolutely wonderful. They welcomed us into their homes, wanted us to share their food. Even offered us a place to spend the night. Another man, God bless him, just a poor peasant, fixed my car for me. Scared me to death when he whipped out a huge machete and motioned me to open the trunk of my car. He pulled out a piece of rope, attached it to my gas pedal, and rigged it so we could at least get to the next biggest town where they had a car dealer. So all thru the mountain roads I had to keep yanking on this piece of rope to give the car gas. And he wouldn't take anything for helping us! The people in the country are wonderful. But the people who work in the tourist spots, ie Acapulco - did I spell that right, probably not. Anyway, they treated us like, and even as much said so, American women are nothing but rich whores! But boy they wanted us to spend our money. Everytime I parked somewhere I got some policeman trying to tow my car away for parking too long, but for $50 American dollars would overlook it. And when I got lost in Mexico City I stopped to ask a policeman for directions and he told me, "Go home, American." "Course he didn't say it as politely as that. Thank God I spotted somebody with Texas license plates who pointed me in the right direction. The people in the villages were wonderful. But to go to the beaches of Mexico, or other other tourists sights; never again. They hate Americans; but they want to get into our country? They try to cheat you everywhere you go in the tourist areas, and then whisper American whore behind your back, not realizing you speak Spanish. They even pretended to lose our luggage at the Acapulco Princess - not a cheap hotel to stay in - and suddenly found it after a $50 "tip." Which I'm sure was because when I first went to take a shower, I screamed so loud I think the entire floor heard me. I had never seen a cockroach in my life! Didn't even know what they were. And I insisted on another room, and the manager kept trying to tell me no, all the rooms were full. Don't waste your money going to Mexico where they hate you, unless you plan on never, ever leaving your hotel. The Japanese, on the other hand, are the most polite, gracious people.
