Religion. Maybe you should question what it actually is? In my opinion it's believing strongly about something that no1 can possible know the answer to (what happens after death, how life was created) and supporting your guess, which is just as good as any other, as a fact. Why can't you religous people see that is what your doing? Surely you don't really believe you KNOW what happens after death and every1 else is wrong. If so, what a naive, ridiculously close-minded opinion. I think, after a little bit of soul searching I have found the answer to wether or not their is a god or not and the answer is... No1 knows, no1!!! And I believe that is the best conclusion I can come to. So why take the gamble? If their is a god, which I doubt a pretty good bit, then he will, being as perfect as he is, be able to see into my mind and understand why I don't believe in him and why I won't let other's gain control of my mind and be happy b/c he knows he wont see me ramming myself into a building.

I would feel peace in knowing I would cease to exist after my brain shut off. What is more peacful than that?!?

If they believe only because they don't want to face a fear that someone who wants to gain control of their mind and wallet has thrust into their heads than I certainly have found a way to distinguish cowardly and truly brave people.

I use to think like that, too. Faith was a daily struggle and I argued with people over really trivial things. I finally came to the conclusion that believing is a good thing, isn't hurting anything in my life and will probably be a really good thing when I die and it does turn out that the masses of people around the world were correct to believe in something bigger than ourselves. I don't think of God in a biblical sense, I think of God in a scientific and as a universal entity. There are things here on Earth that we cannot explain. We can speculate with scientific theories, but isn't faith just a personal theory? The only evidence that I can give you in order to persuade you to have more faith is that I don't think billions of people around the world would waste their time and form their lives around faith in their God if it wasn't true and real. Good luck in whatever road fate takes you down, just remember that it would not be a good thing to be a non believer upon your death and your God is there to decide your eternal fate. Peace.

My thoughts too. Religion was started in the first place to explain the unexplainable, like thunder and lightning were the gods warring in the heavens, etc.

So I also dropped everything everybody told me to believe and made my own decisions on what I would believe. And I came pretty much to the same conclusion, no one really knows and it's impossible to tell.

My only belief is in souls, since it's the only way to explain why I am me. (like why was I born when and where I was, and why I have *this* body type and hair color as opposed to any other.)

I think many people take religion waaay to seriously and don't appriciate anyone trying to push their religion on me. Odd how that the people who most want to share their religious viewpoints with you don't want to hear yours.

Thanks, now I don't feel so alone in my thinking. :)

The point of believing in God is to have him recognize you so you don't just fade away into your childrens memory. Once he knows us, thats when the fun begins, how would you like to do things just to prove God exists? Right now your intent on proving there is no God, but what if you knew for a fact that God did exist, wouldn't you want to tell everyone else the good news? I know by expereince that God exists and that he demands we communicate as told. Without religion no one would know the way this communication is supposed to take place. God by the way doesn't want to control us, that there are people who say they represent God is a sad fact, but that doesn't let anyone else of the hook, so to speak because we still need to have God recognize us by our living...

its called faith. and arent you being a little close-minded, shouldn't you study into religions before making assumptions about them. and which exactly is a bigger gamble, believing in God and finding out that he doesn't exist in the end, or not believing in him and spending an eternity in pain. Why are you so threatened by God? He loves you no matter what you say and He will be there whether you believe in him or not.

I don't know about anyone else. I just know that I believe God is real and true because I talk to Him every day. I feel Him with me. It's a gift called faith that He gives each one of us. God does see into your heart. He's saddened because He wants you to know Him and you've hardened your heart against Him. I have my idea of what happens after this life. Note I said IDEA. I don't know if it's fact but I rely on God's word and the peace His love brings me. I hope someday you can feel that peace, too.

They would rather not deal with that fear. On the off chance that there is a god, they don't want to be there standing before him when they die when god sees that they had disbelief in him. Even if they did try to go against that, the fear of going to hell would still be at the back of their minds, which is what kept Christianity going all these years.

As a believer in Jesus, I have peace of mind. The Holy Spirit of God is my guide.

Question....why take the gamble? You might be wrong in your belief that there is no God. You have the same chance to honor Him, as everyone else. You choose not to believe. ok. but, why take the gamble to have to face Him someday face to face and explain this stupid question.

The Bible is the most scrutinized ancent text in the world, and it supports the religious "guesses" of Christians worldwide. It's used by archeologists and historians because of its accuracy and its credibility.

So far, the Bible has over 300 prophecies in the "win" column...no other scripture has achieved even one.

I'll guess that the Bible could be a pretty good one, as far as guesses go.

Faith is trusting in something you can't prove.
People want to believe in an afterlife because the alternative is unimaginable.
