you can hear it if it is a bowling pin in a bowling alley!!!!!!!!!

Easy, hold the pin 20 yards directly above where you are standing, then drop it...relativity states that it should fall within a very close distance to you...

You could use a directional microphone and a good amplifier. Just ignore the part about no electronics since it would be impossible.
