I just moved into a house that has a very narrow staircase leading up to the second story ( which is actually a finished attic). I want to have my tv room up there. The width of the doorway and staircase is 24." I want the biggest comfiest couch possible.

How about a sectional sofa? Something like the links below. It comes in pieces that combine together to form a big, comfy couch. You can get the pieces that will both fit up the stairs and in the space you have.

As long as your doorway is at least 86" high, the sofa will most likely fit. The deliverymen will stand the sofa on end and then rotate or twist it in a letter "C" pattern through the door. Works like magic.

Futons are not all cheap and uncomfortable. You can buy a quality frame of wood with a high quality cotton mattress. If you add a tempur pad to that before zipping on the mattress covers, you should have a pretty awesome bed. Just don't go to WalMart--go to a high end furniture store.

At a furniture store lol. How dumb is this? There are hundreds of furniture stores selling hundreds of sofas of all dimensions and styles. lol Are you just to lazy to get in your car, take a measuring tape and go shopping like the rest of the world? lol

Some bigger furniture pieces come built so you can take the back off for easier handling. Ask for that at the stores.

You could get an unassembled futon and put it together inside the tv room.
