I like the space idea. Paint the ceiling midnight blue and use glow in the dark stars, you can get them at a craft store. Then you can hang space ships from strings. There used to be wall paper that will cover a whole wall and it looks like you are right in the surroundings, what ever it may be. (example) a forest, or some fantasy land, etc.

You want him to really like it and feel comfortable in it to. I always let my kids have a say so when it came to their rooms. You should ask him to give you some ideas of what he like. Like colors, themes , like baseball, football, super hero's, what ever it is then let him help you pick out what will go in the room. For a 7yrs I would guess their into sports. If he plays some type of ball he may want to have posters of famous players and maybe he might want to started into collecting different type items that have to do with the theme. Cars, truck , motorcycles, football, baseball, race cars. GOOD LUCK

A space theme is always neat for kids at that age - especially if they are into science or the stars. A jungle theme might be cool too. Best thing to do would be to make a list of good themes and then ask your 7 y/o which one he/she likes the best.

What are some of your 7 year olds favorite things? Is he a boy or a girl? Does he like sports, race cars, animals, or does she like girl things?
Take a clue from your child about what they would like and remember they'll be using it for a few years so don't make it too juvinile.
Some neat ideas are a Jungle Room, Circus etc.
Have Fun with it!!

Stick with things that are relaxing and enjoyable as well as more "classic" that will not be so trendy and need to be changed.
