How can Muslims say they believe in the prophets and Jesus yet deny anything in the Bible (yet are actively encouraged not to read it) that doesn't fit their doctrine?

So God is so powerless he cannot mantain scripture throughout the ages? If man apparently corrupted the Bible he will in fact corrupt the Quran(if it isnt already)

We have all our variant manuscripts and they can be explained. Why are the variant copies of the Quran? Nobody knows where the original Quran is. The Quran that you have in our hands now is called the Uthman's Quran, which was collected long after Mohammed's death. Parts of the original Quran must have been lost, after many of the reciters of the Quran died or were killed in battle. Uthman, the third Caliph (successor of Mohammed) gathered what was left of the Quran, arranged it by length of Surahs rather than chronologically, then burned all other existing copies

There is a huge explanation that would take me a very long time to write. But in short, Muslim scholars know that the Koran contradicts the Bible (both testaments), however they believe that their religion is true. Since two things that contradict both cant be true, one must be false. So they argue that the Christian Bible has been changed because they believe that the Koran is true. Muhammad often read from the Torah and encouraged reading from the Torah and the Injil (Gospels). Why would he read from them and instruct others if they were false? Secondly, the earliest manuscripts for the New Testament are dated between 100 and 300 AD (300-500 years before Muhammad), and there is no evidence that the Bible has been changed beforehand.

We do not deny the Bible but it's not a complete word of God.
It has word of God, words of prophets, words of historians and words of those who "thought" they were possessed by the holy ghost.
Now answering your additional questions.
* Muhammed is NOT the greatest prophet of God but the last prophet of God. All prophets hold the same higher level in the eyes of God.
* Not all the prophecies DO NOT match Jesus and if even ONE doesn't fit Jesus, that will according to your logic make Jesus a false prophet. Here are few that do not fit Jesus:
1) Matthew 1:23 says that Jesus (the messiah) would be called Immanuel, which means "God with us." Yet no one, not even his parents, call him Immanuel at any point in the bible.
2) The Messiah must be a physical descendant of David (Romans 1:3 & Acts 2:30). Yet, how could Jesus meet this requirement since his genealogies in Matthew 1 and Luke 3 show he descended from David through Joseph, who was not his natural father because of the Virgin Birth. Hence, this prophecy could not have been fulfilled.
3) Isaiah 7:16 seems to say that before Jesus had reached the age of maturity, both of the Jewish countries would be destroyed. Yet there is no mention of this prophecy being fulfilled in the New Testament with the coming of Jesus, hence this is another Messiah prophecy not fulfilled.
* If raising dead can make someone god then Moses is an even BIGGER god than Jesus. He not only turned a stick into a snake, he also CHANGED the form of stick.
* I don't know what a curreupt Bible has to do with powerless God but what I do know that God chose the people of Israel to keep the word of God saved but they failed to do that (See Jeremiah 8:8)
* There are no varients of Quran, you may be mistaking it with the translations. Uthman actually didn't write a whole new Quran but actually collected all the chapters of Quran that were written on different material (some used skins of animals, some used clothes) and put them all on the paper, no verse or chapter was taken out (unlike what Church did in 325) or was added.
See http://www.answering-christianity.com for more details about the curruption and false teachings of church.

Muslims believe in the Koran, and accepts the Bible. They give credit to the Prophets and include Jesus in that category. The truth is, Muslims are divided into at least two factions: Sh'iites and Sunnis. Sh'iites believe in the holiness of the prophet (Mohammed's) grandson, Ali, as being the dude in charge, while the Sunnis believe that the prophet Mohammed is the real deal. Muslims do not actually believe that their religion "comes from Christianity." Allah sent prophets whenever there was chaos on earth, they believe. Now they create the chaos.

For the same reason Christians don't read Koran That spelling of title on English version on my book self. You didn't mention they also believe Abraham was also a prophet. The answer to second part of your question is same as first. For the same reason the one and only one true religion defames the other. There's enough egocentricity by both from people unwilling to split the contribution pie.

Islam has nothing to do with Christianity, though they do consider Jesus to be a prophet.
For the record, the New Testament was extensively edited and rewritten over many years to make it appear that Jesus fulfilled some of the prophecies of the OT.

1st Muhammad never said he was the greatest prophet. but in the Quran God said there is no different between any of His prophets.
we believe in the Bible that God give it to Jesus with his mother tounge, that is clear from editing, trasnlation problems, people hands and twisting information.

The original, unchanged revelations given to Abraham and other prophets(like Moses and Jesus ) reaching back to Adam all came from the One True God(The Creator). This common origin explains their similarities in many beliefs and values
However, over time the teachings of the various religions, due to a variety of reasons, have become distorted and mixed with made-man ideas.
The last Prophet and Messenger of God, Muhammad , who is a direct descendant of Abraham through his first born son, Ishmael, was sent with the Last Guidance, Revelation and Testament, the Holy Qur'an(koran) to amend and correct the changes and corruption made to the the "Torah" which was sent to Moses and theTrue Gospel of Jesus. To say the truth ,God preserved all the other Holy Books plainly by preserving His Last Book the Holy Qur'an(koran)which contains the right and the truth of all that was changed in those other Books.
This is why this last Revelation which was sent 1423 years ago has remained unchanged, not even a word or a letter has been altered.
There is not even one word of difference between two Arabic Qur'ans, anywhere in the world. There has been no disagreements in history among Muslims as to what should and should not be in the Qur'an. However, in the case of the Bible, even the most ancient manuscripts conflict with one another so that no two are identical. Footnotes in all modern versions of the Bible prove this fact.
These revisions serve as concrete proofs that all the Biblical books are not at all divinely inspired. This is because it is beyond man's ability to correct the work of his Creator, who alone is Almighty and perfect
It was only natural for Almighty God to preserve the scripture revealed to Prophet Muhammad, because he was the last Prophet and Final Messenger of God.
Islam teaches us that we must pray directly to God without an intermediary and no soul can bear the burden of another and that the nature of humanity is good, and we did not inherit sin from Adam. Each soul comes into being free of sin.in Islam there are no priests or clergy -- each worshipper, man or woman, has a direct relationship with their Merciful Creator -- Almighty God. Since God is the Owner and Sustainer of everything, as well as the only one who can provide true and complete forgiveness, it is completely futile to try to approach Him through anyone else.
The oneness and universality of God's message requires that people accept all the messengers of God. Rejecting one of them amounts to rejecting them all. The Jews reject Jesus's mission and Muhammad's mission; the Christians reject Muhammad's mission; whereas the Muslims accept them all, but reject incorrect historical interpretations and human elements in these missions.
As the Qur'an is the final revelation and Muhammad is the final prophet, humanity is obligated to accept it: "If anyone desires a religion other than Islam, never will it be accepted of him; and in the Hereafter he will be in the ranks of those who have lost all spiritual good" (3:86).
The Final Prophet Muhammad said: "Whoever believes there is no god but God, alone without partner, that Muhammad is His messenger, that Jesus is messenger of God, and that Paradise and Hell are true, shall be received by God into Heaven."
you can do that now as you are reading these lines is to pronounce the two confirmations and attestations of faith, here it is
I BEAR WITNESS THAT THERE IS NO GOD WORTHY OF WORSHIP EXCEPT ALLAH ( ARABIC WORD MEANS ONE GOD-THE CREATOR). AND I BEAR WITNESS THAT MUHAMMAD IS HIS SERVANT AND MESSENGER. I BEAR WITNESS THAT JESUS IS HIS SERVANT AND MESSENGER.
The right picture of lslam is conveyed in the Qur'an, which is exemplified by Prophet Muhammad peace be upon him. The reality is that it is not fair to judge a religion by the actions of its followers alone because there are good and bad followers in every religion. The correct thing to do is to judge a religion by its documented revelation from God and the prophet who brought that revelation.
I encourage Christians and other religions to learn about Islam from Muslim sources and The Basis Of The Muslim Belief and not rely on second hand information which in many cases is distorted or contains a deep seated anti Muslim agenda. This is indeed a more scholarly approach
Your brother in humanity

You are very wise.
If Muslims really respected Jesus as a prophet of God, they would believe what He said about Himself, and they would obey Him.....
