I NEVER travel anywhere, of course I want to! I'm only a teen and planning to go to college in either chicago or new york. I heard from a friend that chicago is amazing, but it cant compare to new york. He told me that there was so much more to do in new york and it was completely mindblowing.... true?

Yes. I have never been to Chicago, but I do live in Manhatten and I can just tell you that NYC can offer so much. I don't know what colleges are in Chicago besides University of Chicago, but I know here we have NYU, Columbia, Barnard, CUNY City, Julliard, Marymount Manhatten College, you get the idea.

And while you can meet amazing people anywhere, NYC is the greatest place to meet them. From my expirence, people are rarely prejudice and very open minded and trust me, being here is NEVER boring.

People say NYC is dangerous. And while duh we have crime, but every part of this Earth does. I've been downtown, uptown, Brooklyn, Bronx, Queens, all over the place in NY, even at night and I've never expirenced anything other than drunk people- who are always kinda funny. I just love it here so while you might be getting a one-sided opinion..its a good one. Good luck with the college process...I'm entering my junior year now..sooooo stressful!!!

Hello,
If I were you.. I would first look for study/course of my Interest and then Universities/Scholarships and then comes the state/city/town.

Depending on what you are planning on doing, keep in mind you may really not have all the time to do even if the city offers that. Make your choice wisely. While you study - if you work, this is also a good age to start saving some money. So open a savings account too. This would be the smartest thing you do.

Me been to both cities as well, lived in Chicago for 16 months and like it better than NY. NY is fun place, but too crowded to go there to learn. As for Diversity -- yes NY tops.

Cheers. Have fun and all the best.

New York is flashy and trashy. Chicago is classy. New York certainly has more to offer for jobs in the entertainment business whereas Chicago is more business focused, especially finance. Living in New York is very expensive and for all that money you probably won't even get a closet and your bathroom will be slightly bigger than one on an airplane. Chicago is expensive too, but you get far more space and amenities for less than New York. For the most part Chicago is also safer than New York as long as you stay out of the bad areas. And, Chicago has a VERY good public transportation system... trains, buses, taxi's, and two major airports - Midway and O'Hare. I recommend Chicago ten-fold over New York.

They are both really fun and exciting towns. They are somewhat different though. NYC may have a bit more to offer, however, Chicago is much much more affordable, it's considerably cleaner and it has less crowds. (For example, the subways in NYC are often crowded, not to mention that they smell. This is rarely an issue in Chicago.)

Both cities have lots of school from which you'll be able to choose. You may want to think about which part of the city the school will be in as that will matter quite a bit. If you go to Chicago, the Univ. Chicago may not be your best bet as that is in its own neighborhood far from all the fun things in town.

If you have never been to New York, Yes It is mindblowing and can be overwhelming with all the tall building's, the lights. Especially if you have never been to a City like that before.

When visiting their from Oregon. It was overwhelming, But I could imagine after living their for a while you could get use to the place.

I stay in la and characteristic been to all 3 of those cities. i like all 3 cities, and San Francisco is the only city in all of California i like. yet ny is truthfully my popular, it in basic terms feels like the midsection of the international and has this way of good feeling to it. Chicago's very nicely, yet i'm no longer loopy approximately it. The pizza in Chicago is greater than ny i might say, yet I in basic terms love ny. i'm shifting to ny next 3 hundred and sixty 5 days for college and that i'm so excited i'm no longer able to attend. So truthfully, in this order: a million) ny 2) Chicago 3) San Francisco

Yes it's true in my opinion depending where you live at now if it is fast pace or slow pace ? new york is a lot more up beat than chi-town both are nice places if you are a adventures person who wants a challenge go to NY, If you want some place where it is more calm and not to hard to adjust to go to the chi. Con-grats on college hope you have the time of you're life. (Oh if you don't like one transfer to another, that way you"ll see both why not you"re still young do the damn thang.
