Does anyone here think that God is coming, and that the world is coming to an end, because of recent events in the past few years?

If so... Why?

Rapture... the end of the world...

According to this doctrine, when Christ returns, all of the elect who have died will be raised and transformed into a glorious state, along with the living elect, and then be caught up to be with Christ. The key text referring to the rapture is 1 Thessalonians 4:16–17, which states, "For the Lord himself will descend from heaven with a cry of command, with the archangel’s call, and with the sound of the trumpet of God. And the dead in Christ will rise first; then we who are alive, who are left, shall be caught up together with them in the clouds to meet the Lord in the air; and so we shall always be with the Lord."

Virtually all Christians hold that the Second Coming will be preceded by a time of great trouble and persecution of God’s people (2 Thess. 2:1–4). This period is often called the tribulation. Until the nineteenth century, all Christians agreed that the rapture—though it was not called that at the time—would occur immediately before the Second Coming, at the close of the period of persecution. This position is today called the "post-tribulational" view because it says the rapture will come after the tribulation.

MY opinion:

People have been proclaiming that they are living through the "end times" for waaaaay too long. There's always some unhygenic street-corner evangelist crackpot sputtering about how the world is going to end and that all the heathens better get the Lord harrassed into their unsaved souls.

It STILL hasn't happened. The sky isn't falling. The oceans aren't boiling. Pigs are most definitely NOT sprouting wings and making like the birdies. They've been barking about it for years and years and years and they'll STILL be barking for years to come.

It's a scare tactic, a convenient freak- the- everliving- crap- out- of- folks magic wand that can be waved about in dramatic fashion any time the religious collective feels the soul harvest is running dry.

Trust me... go about your life. Ok, I'm sure you will anyhow considering there's really no alternative option (besides suicide, and I've heard God frowns upon that), but just make sure to keep in mind: STAY CALM. DON'T PANIC. REMEMBER YOUR TOWEL.

No. Think of all the things that happened in the past that seemed even more like the end of the world - the Dark Ages, World War II, the Cold War with the development of Atomic bombs, etc.

I do think our civilization could easily come to an end or decline in the next 100 years. Just read "Collapse" by Jared Diamond and then tell me you don't think we're doomed.

Yes He is coming, but the world is not coming to an end...not yet. The bible tells of a tribulation period of seven years, that has not yet begun, before the second coming of Jesus Christ.

But I do believe the events we are seeing played out all around us are signs that we are in the end times. I believe that the rapture of the church (all born again Christians being taken out of the world to meet the Lord "in the air") will be when the seven year tribulation period begins on earth.

That could happen any time.

the bible says that when God comes, the days wil be like the days of Noah. Crime and immorality rule this world and so does war. There is about to be a world war on terrorism and most scholars believe that a world war will be before the rapture. the bible also says that Jesus will come in the latter days that started in 1948 when israel became a nation again and it also refers to the days of air planes.

But it's not going to be the end when Jesus comes back. there will be a seven year tribulation and then a thousand year reign of Christ on earth and then God creates a new heaven and earth and a new jerusalem

So I think that it's about to be our time Christians. Jesus is coming back soon!!!!!!!!

No. I don't think it is. Worse things have happened in recent years and most of us are still here. If the end of the world is coming and we can't do anything to prevent it, then its better not to know and ride the waves. Don't worry about it!

Yes, but not because the world is getting worse until the Great Tribulation..which it is, and that is a part of the sign of the last days.

But personally I have allot more reasons to know we are in the time of Christ presence/coming waiting for his manifestation.

It's the end of the world as we know it, this is the end of the world as we know it, and I feel fine...

Nope, world not coming to an end. There is no end in the prophetic sense.

The physicists have a few convincing alternatives of how the universe ends. I for one suspect the big rip is how it ends.

Nobody can give you a "for sure" answer for that one. Even Jesus told us that the the angels in Heaven didn't know, nor even the Son...but only the Father.
Me, I don't think it's going to be much longer. But, of course, I could be wrong.
Then again, the sky could open up in the next few minutes, and it will all be over with.

It's all in God's hands.
And that is as it ought to be.

The end times have been here since Jesus died on the cross. It like how we are all dying from the moment we take our first breath, but it takes time for it to run it's course. Don't try to read into stuff to much, only God knows when it will come to light that we are in the end times. In His time is when we will see, so don't rush it. <><

Jesus said that we wouldn't see it coming. He also said it could be any ordinary day, when we least expect it. He did give us some clues about the anti-Christ, but people have been labeling other people with that for hundreds of years. Why worry about it? The resurrection of all things and all things being made new, that doesn't sound too bad. Okay, the blood red sky and fire falling from it does sound really scary…
