I've lost quite a lot of weight in the last few months but it seems like more has come off my butt and hips than my stomach. Anything I can do to help this area along? Any foods I should eat or should avoid?

Avoid sugar and carbs. Lean meat and other protein is the best, especially if you are doing ab exercises.

Spot reducing your stomach is impossible, but spot gains of strength in certain body parts is.

Isolating and strengthening the muscles in your midsection can automatically decrease your waistline, even if no attention is given to reducing your calories.

What matters most is losing fat from your waistline are the following practices:

The overal consumption of calories must be lower than your energy expenditure on a daily basis.

Superhydration, the continual sipping of at least 1 gallon of ice-cold water every day, accelerates fat loss and stomach flattening.

Hard, brief strength training ensures that the resulting weight loss is from fat. Strength training the abdominal muscles improves the shape, firmness and contours of the midsection muscles.

As far as foods go, the first thing to eliminate, if you haven't already, is sugar. It has a tendency to produce bloating.

There is an Abs Diet book. Check it out. Also twist your upper body from side to side, this whittles the middle down. Also hold in your stomach while breathing normally, After 4 weeks you should notice a difference.

Belly fat is hard to get rid of. If you do the South Beach Diet, that helps. Keep exercising, try lots of crunches. That may help.

Build up the abdominal muscles by doing deep breathing exercises where you try to exhale all the air from your lungs and at the same time raise your knee toward your chest.
