The only differences I know of are the color and the price. English Goldens are white. American Goldens can be blond to mahogany. I have never seen an English Golden priced below $2,000.

English - white color and bigger, weigh around 100#.
American - redder color and smaller, weigh around 60#.

We had an English Golden. She was very sweet. She was around 120# when she was 9 yrs old, and lived to around 12 yrs. My next dog will be a red golden.

While they are (not to my knowledge) two seperate breeds, the English have their own breed standard, and the Americans have theirs. Each is from a different breed club, and each has drawn up a profile that they consider to be the perfect standard. "American" Goldens have become smaller and more compact over the years, but I don't know that they are all that different from dogs from the UK.

One barks with a cockney accent and the other barks with an American accent.

However, they are both probably from the same bloodline. I am sure that some colonists
brought some over, without King George III's
permission.

Bloodlines, really. One has lines that came from the UK, and the other has bloodlines from the US. No real difference. Same as Czech German Shephereds and American Shephereds - same breed, different bloodlines.
