Hello friend,
You ask an excellent but difficult question.
All of God's Word has been faithful to me, and has often been my only light in the darkness of this world.
But I suppose of all I have read, I believe this one passage has comforted me more times than I can recall.
"Let not your heart be troubled: you believe in God, believe also in Me. In my Father's house are many mansions: if it were not so, I would have told you. I go to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come again, and receive you
unto myself: that where I am, there you may be also."
John 14:1-3. (KJV)
Friend, through this very passage, God lifted me up from a sorrow that was crushing my soul. I won't use the word miracle,
but if it wasn't, it sure seemed that way to me.
You see, my precious wife went Home to be with the Lord 13 years ago. I remember it perfectly. In my grief and sorrow, I did not want to go on. I had determined NOT to go on. I was totally broken. I recall asking God how could I go on. At first, nothing.
God's silence was painful to me. I had friends, family, and a preacher friend try to comfort me. My girls were only 5 and 11.
Nothing helped. Nothing.
I recall a desperation words can not describe. And just when I was ready to give up, I asked God once again: How can I go on the rest of my life without her? How can I live and never see her again?
Then friend, God spoke to me. I won't say the words were audible to the ear, but deep inside my heart, deep in a place where God alone can reach, I heard Him say these words I'll never forget. "She's just gone for the day".
That was all. Very soon after, I found a card she gave me with the passage I wrote above. And even though at first I didn't understand what God meant by those words, when I saw her card, it all came to me.
I was so worried about the "rest of my life" I had missed what God was saying. Proverbs 27:1 says "Boast not of tomorrow, for you do not know what a day will bring." Look also at Psalms 144:4, Psalms 39:5 and James 4:14 - please, please look.
We don't have the promise of tomorrow. I thought I had the "rest of my life". But God, in His great wisdom, told me "She's just gone for the day". And on the day He said that, it was true. It's still true today. I could close my eyes for the last time tonight. I don't know. But I do know that whether I do or not, God was able to get me through "life" one day at a time. And I praise Him!
Friend, I truly am sorry to have written so much, I only pray that if anyone else ever has to face a similar event, maybe this epic could help them too. And thank you friend for your question.
May God richly bless you.
2 Tim. 2:7

I don't have one particular fave, but I like this one: Romans 8:28...It is comforting because sometimes when life seems to make a wrong or unfair turn, it is a reminder that the bitter is sometimes combined with the sweet to make an overall good.. that God thinks of you and has an eye for the whole picture from a better vantage point, not only where you're involved, but other areas you may not have even considered about.

I am studing my Bible and using other books as guides and I found these two this week and they really spoke out to me.
Create in me a clean heart,
O God. Renew a right spirit
within me.
Psalm 51:10
The grass withers,
and the flowers fade,
but the word of our God
stands Forever!
Isaiah 40:8
The second one just says it all. No matter what your going through, God will be there.
The first helps when your feeling weak in your faith, or just anytime you need picking up.

Dueteronomy 6:4 "Hear O Isreal! The Lord is our God, the Lord is one!"
This verse, known as the Shema in Judaism, has become the most important verse to me because it defines God so well. It is the essence of His character, His purity, His justice, His love and on and on. It has brought tremendous understanding about who God is and who I am not. It's no wonder Jews hold it in such high regard.

Then Jesus declared, "I am the bread of life. He who comes to me will never go hungry, and he who believes in me will never be thirsty. -John 6:35
Jesus repeated many times in that passage that he was the only way to God. Yet you still have people wandering around to this day that claim to believe in the scriptures but deny Jesus as the Son of God....

Psalm 23
I think that's it. I don't know the bible, nor do I read it or go to church. I pray in my own way. I think too many people use church for bad things these day, and they are fake and phony and I don't want to be a part of that.

Lo I am with you even unto the end of the age,,I will never leave you or forsake you
I have loved you with an everlasting love
surely He was a man of sorrows acquainted with our griefs
there will be no more pain and no more crying out, and no more will the voice of weeping be heard in all the land
you will build your own houses and dwell in them, plant your own vineyards and drink from them
Bless and do not curse, in all things giving thanks

I love all the scriptures in Ecclesiastes, they help you relax and take life a day at a time and make you think more clearly.
