Depends on the circumstances;
If your child has been molested or the child is someone you know and a reasonable person would have lost all self-control because of the molesting, you will still be charged with homicide but it may be mitigated from 1st degree to 2nd degree-adequate provocation. This is when someone kills someone because of an act or behavior that caused the offender to lose all self-control (killling someone that molested your child, killing a guy that you found in bed at your house with your wife)
HOWEVER, if you just walk up to any child molester and shoot, stab, beat him/her to death, then you will probably not be granted adequate provocation and will probably be charged with 1st degree intentional homicide.
(These are based off of Wisconsin Homicide Statutes, individual state statutes vary, check your statutes located on your states legislative website)

My sister knows a buddy through her fiance. He is fourty-something years old and just got released from jail last year.
He had been in jail for 14 years for brutally stabbing and killing a child molester. This man is not a bad man if you look at it in a sense that he probably prevented any further harm this molester could have done to more children.
But still, he had to face the fact that he took a life of someone else.
Now, he missed a lot of his youth. But he is looking forward and not dwelling in what he experienced in the past.

Child molesters are just about the grossest people. why anyone would ever do such horrid things to an innocent child.I'll never understand. But I think it's wrong to kill anyone...I guess to break it down. Molesting children is wrong. Killing is wrong. So basically you are avenging wrong with wrong. Why not let the authorities take him down? That way you won't have the guilt or troubles.

Unfortunately you would go to jail, charged with murder. The bright side is that you would be liked by other inmates for killing a child molester because they are the scum of the earth even in the eyes of other felons.

on forturally you would get in trouble. to your second question is because your not God you can not judge someone and take it in your own hands no matter how horribale it is. My person oppine is to put all child molester in front of a firing squade. but it not my place to make that call. God said that all that we do on earth we will pay for it on judgement day. Now if you can catch tring to hurt a child go for it make sure he is dead and have someone to call the police while you are killing him so the police will know that you was protection a child and say you went in saine.

Most likely. Since no one really follows Hammurabi's law anymore, (an eye for an eye, a tooth for a tooth, etc.) It's a bit unethical to kill someone even though you feel like you have a good reason to.
This is the reason why, as a society, we have laws; to keep people in line, and to deal with things as "justly" as possible.

Are you an idiot? Murder is murder nomatter how you look at it. The only exceptions to the rule is either if you plead under duress( someone literally made you) out of neccessity ( you killed them in order of preventing a much more serious crime), or self defense against yourself or self defense of a third party.

Having asked myself the same question I can tell you very rapidly that the answer is YES you can still go to jail for this...
Maybe a grand jury would not indict you or see this as a justifiable homicide...but it is not worth losing your freedom over...
Let the law take care of it.

A guy answered that question about 400 years ago.

"I doubt not but it will be objected that it is unreasonable for men to be judges in their own cases, that self-love will make men partial to themselves and their friends; and, on the other side, ill-nature, passion, and revenge will carry them too far in punishing others, and hence nothing but confusion and disorder will follow,…I easily grant that civil government is the proper remedy…." John Locke

That would be judge, jury, and executioner. I little too much for one person to be responsible for. I'm not saying in this particular case, but in general its a bad idea. That's why its against the law.

It damn shouldn't be! I think that once you molest/rape a child, or murder or torture or burn a cross for that matter, you officialy lose protection from the law.
