Stay away from store credit cards. You are better off trying to a regular Visa or MasterCard from your local financial institution. The interest rates on store credit cards will kill you. If this is the first time you are getting credit card you may have to get a secured card to help you build credit. Also stop having your credit pulled at stores just because they make the offer. The more you have your credit pulled the worse your credit becomes.

Do you have a checking account? If not, you might try getting and keeping one for a while. Also, you might consider applying for a secured credit card. That type of card is obtained by opening a savings account that has the same amount in it as your credit card line. That way, if you don't pay your bill, they will take the money from the savings account.

Don't get a store card OR a credit card. Pay cash or don't buy it. Instant gratification is the sign of immaturuty. Save up for what you want and pay cash. There is nothing that a credit card will do for you that a debit card won't, except put you in debt.
