1 And it came to pass, when
men began to multiply on the
face of the Earth, and daughters
were born unto them,
2 That the SONS of God saw the
daughters of men that they were
fair;and they took tham wives of
allwhich they chose.
3 And the Lord said, My spirit
shall not always strive with
man, for that he also is flesh: yet
his days shall be an hundred and
twenty years.
4 There were giants in the Earth
in those days; and also after that,
when the sons of God came in
unto the daughters of men, and
they bare children to them, the
same became mighty men which
were of old, men of renown.
I am a Christian, always believed one son of God. I asked my mom about this, She said John 3:16 says "only begotton" which means only born on Earth. It clearly states SONS. what do you CHRISTIANS THINK?

rev.My scriptures came straight out of the King James Bible, by the way, I went to that sight you suggested, it says same thing.
And I noticed some non-christians answered not even bothering to read them.

angels?
aliens?
I would ask these three people for their answers.
jdm.org
tdjakes.org
joycemeyer.org
I say these three, because they have come from all walks in life.. their lives haven't always been the kindest.. they are honest and straight forward.
Don't give up on getting 'their' answer.. email them, snail mail them, ask ask and ask some more.
and then, ask God.. we will leave this world with many unanswered questions. I myself have a notebook of questions.
Remember your 'faith' and be honest.. admit that you, nor I, understand everything there is about our Lord.. but that that is alright.
Good luck in your quest.. just.. do not lose yourself to it.
God bless..

The Hebrew phrase bene elohim translated "Sons of God" actually refers to the fallen angels. Look at verse 2, the daughters of men had no choice, the Sons of God took them.
Verse 3 says that God says that their days shall be a 120 years. This is when Noah's flood occurred.
Verse 4 says that there were giants on the earth. The Hebrew word was Nephelim, which was a hybrid between humans and demons. The Latin Vulgate translated Nephelim as Gigante, which is where we get the word giant. They were giants, but that wasn't the main problem with them.
The reason for Noah's Flood was to destroy all these hybrids. The Bible says that Noah was perfect in his genealogy, meaning he didn't have a corrupted genes from the demons.
After the Flood, demons once again started marrying the daughters of men. In Genesis 10:9, we read that Nimrod was a mighty hunter before the Lord. See the similarity between this and verse 6:4. That is why in some of the battles, God said to kill every man, woman and child. He had to destroy the corrupted DNA pool.
By the way, Goliath was a Nephelim.
In a lot of verses, Sons of God refers to angels, here the Hebrew term refers to fallen angels.

You mother is right.
Also, some sects don't believe these were actually "sons" of God, but if that were the case where did they come from?
It says no where else in the Bible that God created other people, other than Adam and Eve and if we ALL came from them, it indicates we are the product of incestuous actions.
God has an organization, per se. There are angles, there was Satan, maybe there are sons of God, literal or figurative.
By figurative, if we go to heaven and find that God creates other people elsewhere maybe we take them as wives and husbands. We, would, then, te the "sons of God" or God's children in the figurative sense.
If God created man in his own image than God has hands and feet and a head.
Some people say God is a spirt. Maybe God can exists both ways, as sprit or as "real" to be with man, as it also says in the bible that God Walked with Adam in the Garden of Eden.
If God is a spirt, why walk. Why not pace Adam.
It specifically says "walked" however some claim this could be symbolic not literal.
I personally tend to go with the literal "sons of God" concept as talked about, as I can't believe God intended fathers and daughters, brothers and sisters to to forth and be fruitful with each other.
It can also explain why there are diffent looking and different colored people on Earth.
Such a concept gives diversity an explaination.
I also explains the vast difference in height. How we have people under 5 feet and over 7 feet tall.

In verse 4 when it mentions "sons of God", the Bible is refering to angels. This is the New International Reader's Version:
1 Men began to increase their numbers on the earth, and daughters were born to them.
2 The sons of God saw that the daughters of men were beautiful. So they married any of them they chose.
3 Then the Lord said, "My Spirit will not struggle with man forever. He will die. He will have only 120 years to live until I judge him."
4 The Nephilim were on the earth in those days. That was when the sons of God went to the daughters of men and had children by them. The Nephilim were the heroes of long ago. They were famous men. Nephilim were also on the earth later on.

I have no basis for what i believe but I take the passage just like it says. I believe the sons of God to be the fallen angels. The daughters of men to be human women. There were giants and highly intelligent people born from that. Since those days, for whatever God's reason they cannot do this anymore. Many things in the bible remain a mystery to me and until someone can explain it better I will not know for sure...even in our past it is unexplainable how people in the ancient times did some of the things they knew how to do.

In the old testament the "sons of God" is a term used for the angels. Here's a clarifying passage from the new testament.
"And the angels which kept not their first estate, but left their own habitation, he hath reserved in everlasting chains under darkness unto the judgment of the great day. Even as Sodom and Gomorrha, and the cities about them in like manner, giving themselves over to fornication, and going after strange flesh, are set forth for an example, suffering the vengeance of eternal fire. Jude 1:6-7
Job 1:6 Now there was a day when the sons of God came to present themselves before the LORD, and Satan came also among them.

The Sons that God is speaking of here, are in fact Angels. These angels took fleshly bodies to satisfy their lust for sexual relations with earthly women. It led to the hybrid offspring called Nephilim.
God made a multitude of Spirit creatures long before he created humans. Job 38:4--7 But Jesus was God's first creation .Colossians: 1,15 And in verse 16 we see that Jesus helped his Father to create all other things. This is why Jesus is considered to be Gods only begotten son, because Jesus was the only thing God created alone. Jesus helped God to create everything else.
We are all sons and daughters of God. Even the Angels are his sons

This is referring to men. God is the Father so to speak of all things because He is the creator. In Job 38:7 the Angels are referred to as sons of God and in Romans 8:14 those who are born again of the Spirit are called sons of God. However Jesus is the only Begotten meaning He is the same essence as the Father or in other Words He is also God. All the rest are sons by creation or adoption but He is proceeds form God the Father Himself, not being created. Jesus is God with us.
Matthew 1:23
"The virgin will be with child and will give birth to a son, and they will call him Immanuel" —which means, "God with us."

The phrase "sons of God" is used in many places in Scripture. Jesus is called the only BEGOTTEN son, but never the only son. This indicates that Jesus alone was created from eternity. The angels have a beginning, and many an end, during the time of humanity, but Jesus was there at Genesis 1:1.

There are several interpretations of this passage.
I have never read the Book of Enoch, but I understand this book supports the idea that angels mated with female humans and produced giants.. This interbreeding did not please God.
Another interpretation says that the Bible regarded the line of Seth and the line of Cain as "Sons of God" and "daughters of earth". This is consistent with later instructions to separate "chosen" lines from gentile ones. The scriptures tell us that God was always trying to purify the line that leads to Jesus.
In any event, this passage is a hard one, and one that has several interpretations. I don't think we will ever know the answers with any certainty, but I don't think that anything of doctrinal substance is lost on these verses either.

The "Sons of God" Genesis 6:2. They may have been "Fallen Angels" (Read; II Peter 2:4 and Jude 6). They may have been of the Sethite (Seth) Family and intermarried with the descendants of Cain. But, regardless of which and there are other ideas, the point here is; These marriages filled the Earth with corruption, violence and Godlessness.
I tend to believe it was the descendants of Seth marrying the descendants of Cain. There are other places in the Bible that tell of God's people marrying people of other beliefs. Esau did this.
