the silly woman tried to tell me that it won't hurt anything to do it now. It was done just about a month ago. I've had many perms spanning 30-something years. Some good, some bad, some awesome, some horrible. I've learned "MY" hair, what it will do, what works best with it, what works worst, etc. I TRIED to tell her, but no dice (they always get offended when you try to tell them how to do their job). It's not that I'm trying to do that, but I'm the one that's worn my hair 30-something years, enduring all these "stand-offish" prideful women & men. Now, I have yet another mess. For the first time in my life, I decided to call and see if they would make it right (I've always figured if they couldn't get it right the first time, why would I let them touch it again?). She says she'll redo it and it won't hurt to do it now. I've always heard to wait months between perms, not to mention I have a frizz going on here I need to get rid of. Any ideas of how to get rid of frizz or when to perm?

I hate it when hair dressers don't listen to their clients, it makes me scream !!!!!!!! If you only have frizz on the ends,I'd say get a trim, but it sounds like you have a full on "Fro" going, So leave -conditioners are OK, but they will only "Coat the hair. You need a serum, Like Redkins "Anti-snap" it will put a little of the elasticity back in your hair so it wont break off. If you perm over a perm, and your hair is very dry, it will turn it to mush, and then there will be nothing you can do. Time is all that you can do now. once the hair is damaged, Perming is not an option. "All"perms dry the hair out Little each time. (some more than others depending on the strength of the perm) the rod size has nothing to do with it.Some people think that all perms make frizzy hair"no true" it's the timing and the way its curled that will determine the dryness of the hair, and the condition of the hair to begin with. It seems that you got a bad perm, and a not so good hair dresser. Sorry that it happened. Most of the time it's just laziness on the stylists part. But like you said, there are great perms too. Better luck in the future. : )

First of all, stop going from stylist to stylist. The more a professional does you hair, the more familiar they get with you. How your hair handles styles, what chemicals work best for your hair, your style preference, your hair texture, etc... Even if they mess it up the first time, give them another chance. You have to be very specific when getting your hair done, the stylists aren't mind readers. Telling them "I want a perm" doesn't tell her/him what kind of perm. Take a picture in with you so they know what you are looking for. Before you sit in the chair, have a long talk with them. Make sure they know exactly what you want, and tell them how your hair behaves. Maybe a spiral perm doesn't work for you, so let them know in advance. If they get snotty, then leave. YOU are paying THEM to do a good job, if not a great job. They are working for you in the hour or so you are in the chair. While the customer may not always be right, for things like personal style, they are. It doesn't matter if the stylist thinks it will look horrible, if that's what you want, make them do it, or take your business elsewhere. Don't feel obligated to continue with an appointment just because you made it and are there. Talk to the manager while you are at it.

You are right, you should wait at least a month so you don't fry your hair more than it already is. To tame it in the meantime, try anti-frizz products, like John Frieda's Frizz Ease or Alberto VO5 hot oils. Whatever you choose, make sure you also get a heavy conditioner. It will weigh the hair down (usually bad) for less poof, and help with the dryness (usually the reason for frizz.)

Wash your hair at night, dry, and then pull it back tightly in a braid or ponytail. You'll wake up in the morning with flatter hair, and the natural oils will have built up enough to hold a style better.

If it happened right away, wash it with dish soap 2 or three times a day for 3 days. That should kill the chemicals. If it has been more than 48 hours then you should wash your hair at night, let it partially dry, and then braid it. It will be wavy in the morning, but you can easily blow that out. If your hair is short like mine was when I got the perm from hell, I suggest taking a curling iron to it in the morning and using lots of conditioner. Either way, wait 6 weeks before perming or coloring it.

Good Luck!

My wager is you likely had colored your hair or carried out some form of chemical on your hair previously getting this perm? it really is what oftentimes occurs at the same time as human beings do domicile colour. in the journey that your hair became healthful and had no different chemical substances on your hair this don't have exceeded off. I refuse to perm a persons' hair if it has any save colour on it or is weak or damaged. the rationalization being because the hair gained't curl, it is going to prepare basically like you reported tiny, frizzy waves. i might want to assert your stylist must have tried speaking you out of it or refused to do it. Your stylist is rather at fault. Your hair can basically take a lot till it basically looses it ability, i imagine it truly is what exceeded off right here. you want a sturdy reduce, a great number of layers to leap up some curl and sturdy products suck as deep conditioning. sturdy success, Stylist of 9 yrs.

DON'T perm again...you'll ruin your hair. There are many good products out there that will keep it looking good until it grows out. Try Aussie Sprunch spray..Frieda makes a bunch of "frizzease" stuff...there are lots of them..experiment.

Hmm. I'm not sure how soon it's safe to try anything with your hair. Maybe you can call a different salon and ask their opinion?
