An alternative is a place called The Price is Right. This place collects clothing - and everything else. The items are given FREE to people who need to start over - such as those coming out of women's shelters and mental homes.

I had an unsuccessful garage sale, and I really hated the idea of giving my stuff to a place that would make money on it. Then I came up with the idea of donating the stuff to a women's shelter. I called one and they referred me to this place.

Here's info about them:
2. The Price Is Right is an amazing place that collects donations of ANY household items. They serve more than 300 agencies in Milwaukee, last year serving more than 4,000 individuals and families. I was first introduced to them when my son was released from the Mental Health Complex. He was allowed to choose items to help get him back on his feet after a hospitalization. The Price Is Right (Free!) offered him clothing and some household goods at a time when he really needed it. Since then, our entire family donates clothing, hangers, dishes, bedding, towels, books, games, really ANYTHNG to get on one’s feet again. What I really like about it is that it serves a population so often forgotten in our community, costs nothing to them and helps SO MANY people. They also can use volunteers to help out. Please consider them with tax-deductible donations when spring cleaning. The Price Is Right is at 629 N. 36th St. or call them at 933-7279.
