i have pain in the top of my left foot and swelling from my ankle to my toes. i won't have medical insurance for another 2 months. any help would be great.

It sounds like you have "gout" it is from eating too much fatty foods, too much oils(any type of grease) and salt. Most of the time it can be fixed by regulating your diet and eating healthier, but sometimes it is so bad that you need medication as well as a balanced diet.

I would examine the shoes that you have been wearing lately, sometimes different textures can irritate your feet and cause pains and swelling. Otherwise i am not too sure what is going on. Have you been tested for diabetes, not to scare you...

soak your feet in warn water and then raise them up cut out the salt wear different shoes check your shoe size wear liter socks

Gout-caused by too much uric acid in joints by eating too much protein rich food.

is it kinda red? and bumpy ? sounds like cellulitus. look up cellulitus on the internet. its popular on the legs and feet mosty.

try getting less constrictive shoes and try resting them in an elevated position
