I could be wrong, but I think in The Bible, it doesn't state that you can't drink wine, (because they used to drink it,) but it says not to drink to excess. (Don't get drunk) That's when ya get into trouble. The same is true for food, (gluttony is a sin) and, well about anything, you're not supposed to do anything to excess. But If I were living like I should, then I wouldn't want anything more than an occasional glass of wine, with or with out dinner....

First, if you have ever really been saved, then you can never loose salvation(John 6:37;John 10:27-29). I had struggled with the same question a long time, and the answer for me was revealed to me in his word. It is a question of conviction, but, in Timothy we are taught not to do anything that may cause us or our brothers to stumble. Abstaining from alcohol seems favorable in the Bible because we are taught that if we are going to preach the word of God, we are to have not one drop of wine in us, and in the Bible John the baptist was described as a good testimant to the Lord, and the Bible tells us that he never had a single drink. As to the stumble, I see it like this, how would it look if a non-church goer sees you leave church, cross the street and enter a market and come out with a 12 pack? Is that for God's glory.

everything in moderation. I drink alot of coffee and milk. technically I could abuse these things just as an alcoholic does beer. I believe everything was put here for a purpose, but not neccessarily the what it is being used for at present. for instance, I don't believe pot was meant for druggies to get high. On the other hand you can take marijuana protien supplements without any side effects. It has one of the most complete amino acid profiles in nature. Hemp can also make an extremely strong fabric that lasts longer than cotton material. So you can drink alcohol, just be smart.

you may fluctuate between faith as such and what the church and its regulations created from it. there is not any bible textual content common to me that forbids the ingesting of wine and beer (the later wasn't rather common in biblical Israel of direction). during the marriage of Kanaan Jesus transfigured water into wine. He does not have carried out this if wine were a forbidden beverage. Now it rather is feasible that over the circumstances some pope or yet another released a regulation that sturdy christians would desire to no longer drink alcohol. yet there are bans on premarital intercourse from a similar source, and many christians right this moment do no longer word them yet nevertheless evaluate themselves non secular.

The Apostle Paul said to Timothy in Second Timothy 5:23 "No longer drink only water, but use a little wine for your stomach's sake and your frequent infirmities".
This dose not mean get out of controll of your thoughts by getting drunk. Wine is great for your stomach and it helps to take stress levels down. It's not something you have to have allot of for it to work. Getting drunk well that's not what he gave permission for him to do.
Beer is the same. Alcohol is Alcohol. Just use self control. And don't drive.

Its perfectly okay to drink wine or beer or even other drinks but "In Moderation" and not to the extent of drunkenness. Jesus himself drank wine and it says so in the Bible. There are some people who feel it is a sin to sing, dance, to drink, etc but God made all things and all things are good when used to the purpose He intended them.

Of course! Jesus drank wine. Paul even advised Timothy to "drink a little wine for your stomach." I personally believe that Paul was referring to help cope with stress (although using alcohol as an escape from the troubles of your life is strictly condemned in Scripture).

Although I believe it is ok to drink, I also think it best not to do it. Jesus warned us not be drunk when he comes a callin. And that time is sooo near.
If it is not a problem for you, drinking a glass of wine every once in awhile is ok in my book, but my ex-husband is a head injury from a car accident that involved drinking, so I do not drink at all...not a drop in years. I like it that way.

No, you will face all sorts of opposition and disapproval ... the usual disappointed looks. People will take you aside and tell you they are praying for you and they will expect you to run to the front of the church at the end of the next service you attend.
Here is the viewpoint of a Baptist church, regarding alcohol, attached.

that's between you and the Lord, I think that a glass of wine and alcoholic beverage is fine, but dont get drunk. Also some unsaved people might see you drinkin and accuse you of being a hypocrite or somethin. but its between you and Jesus.
