I am going to be a freshmen in high school next week, and i was wondering what are things that freshen, do, say, or wear that are just stupid and that i will regret years later... example from middle school: 6th graders would hug their books as they walked in the hallways.

Don't smart off to the upperclassmen.
Don't let them "initiate" you, though - there's no sense in doing pushups in the hall nor carrying their lunch trays.
Just wear regular clothes.
Don't worry about fitting in - be yourself, and don't greatly alter your wardrobe into something your parents can't afford to maintain.

The others have given some decent suggestions, too, along with some useless fashionista ideas.

1. Do as best you can academically because this time it really counts to get into college. 2. Don't walk really slowly in the hallway lol, this annoys people. 3. Join extracurricular activities/sports because this also looks good on college applications and they are very fun and a good way to make friends. 4. Use your locker! Don't try and carry 5 textbooks in your hands because this doesn't work(personal experience lol). 5. Don't get involved in high school drama, this happens mostly with girls and it can get pretty bad if your stuck in the middle, so try and stay out of it. 6. Make a good impression on all of your teachers because you may need them one day to give you recommendations. 7. Keep your cellphone off or on silent because it can be sooo embarrassing when it rings in class in front of everyone.(also has happened to me). 8. Have confidence! Even if you are nervous, try not to look it because people will be able to sense that. 9. Be a leader, not a follower, do your own thing and don't just follow everyone else just because they're "cool." 10. Have fun! High school can be a very fun time, so get involved in your school and have fun, but remember not to do anything that will get you in trouble. Hope this helps and have a great freshman year! _Layla_

DON'T...

...do drugs.

...have sex with a boy to make him like you (he won't, believe me!)

...allow the group you hang out with to influence you in getting to know people outside your group. You never know who could be the best friend you've ever had!

...mess with the teachers cuz that's definitely a road to trouble.

...let the other kids talk you into doing something your parents told you not to do. Whether you believe it or not, they were once a freshman too and they DO know what they're talking about.

...don't get it in your head that everyone is watching everything you and if you embarrass yourself, you'll never get over it.

...be afraid to be who you are. That is most important cuz a lot of kids try to be someone else to impress others and it will only bite you in the butt!

...forget that your parents love you and want the best for you even if it doesn't seem that way at the time.

Enjoy high school. It goes by quickly and once you're out it's off to adulthood and believe me, being an adult isn't always what it's cracked up to be!

just relax and dont act like u r trying so hard to not do something stupid. i would say bring your lunch and make sure u know where you r gonna meet your friends. because they played a joke on my sister when she was a freshman and said , "u shouldn be in this line, this is the senior line" and my sister was all, oh sorry and then she moved out of the line. there is no senior line!!!!!!!!! so bring your lunch so u can just hang our with your friends. but dont be scared of anyone just cuz there seniors. cuz they want u to act like that. well i have my first day of 8th grade on monday so i know how u feel bout starting school. well i hope this helps and i wish u a good school year!

Dont hug your books

Have reasonable crushes (not the hottest senior in school)
Have fun!

Don't act hard so people will think you're cool.
Don't be overly obnoxious in the lunch room.
Don't be a teachers pet, but don't be a complete jerk either.
Don't slack off.
Just.. Be yourself.

Don't ask an upper-classman where a particular room is. He'll most likely direct you to a dead-end hall.

don't act snobby or stuck up. always obey and respect your teacher and they will give you the same courtesy.
