Tell your wife it's ok. I have survived 8 cancers battling my ninth and stomach was two cancers ago for me. radiation and lots of rest along with early detection and I'm fine. Yes you eat less but better than blowing up like a balloon which chemo does to the body.

Yes, it is true that a person can live without their stomach. The thing about cancer is if you treat it early, you have a good chance for survival, but if you wait around, the cancer will spread and there will be nothing you can do at that point. Early treatment is definitely best.

has she had surgery yet to remove some of it? I don't know statistically about the entire removal versus partial gastrectomy. stomach cancer has an extremely high rate of recurrence most often exactly where it began. do a search for dr. paul sugarbaker. when I researched options a couple of years ago an article I ran across by him made alot of sense. he talks about doing somekind of perinatal was after cancer taken out to lower the chances of recurrence. you didn't mention if the dr.'s want to remove the whole stomach or not?

You can live without a stomach. Ask the gastric bypass patients. It is difficult and it is a way of life. She would have to learn to be a pilferer or grazer as some people say and learn to eat small amounts many times a day.
