No, they can be missionaries, or anything they want to be. they are sometimes teachers, work in adoption agencies, do all kinds of things. Wherever they are needed is where they work and train for whatever profession they are to be doing.

Depends on the type of nuns they are. There are many orders (groups) of nuns and each has a different focus. Some orders of nuns all are nurses or doctors, some all go into teaching, some only work with the poor (like Mother Teresa's nuns) and some are cloistered which means they spend their entire day praying and never leave their convent.

I work at a convent and I can tell you that a Sister can be anything she wants to be.

The order that I work for has accountants, cooks, teachers, nurses, a couple of lawyers, 4 doctors that I know of, some printers, and just about any other profession you can think of.

If you want more information take a look at http://www.sssf.org (the order I work for) and take a look. If you don't see what you are looking for, contact me via my profile and I will get the answer for you.

Peace be with you,

No, they can be lots of things like teachers or choir directors. But I think mainly they are nuns and live at the convent.

I'm not a nun but I am a nurse....I would liken the job more to a whore...It is grueling work with no respect.

As far as nuns, they make awesome teachers, if you like your knuckles smacked with rulers.
