I just walked a few miles with the pup and now I am sweating like crazy, could use a nice cool shower...what do I do? Does E-coli live once the water on my skin has dried?

You would think I was in the middle of no where, but I am not, very larger area, only my suburb is affected. The same street they detected it on had a sewer line break not too long ago. All the restarants are closed, it totally sucks

Boil your water and make sure water is stored in sterile water containers if your water is infected with E-Coli I would not shower
It could get in to cuts, eyes, especially mouth or Small infections that you don't know about. If you have a health authority ask them for advice they can help I hope.

I'm not sure...I know it's not safe to injest, but as for showering in it, I don't know. You might want to call your local water department and ask them, just to be on the safe side. I would have thought they'd have given you more information as to what you could and couldn't do with the water.

Also, in reference to Mel, yes something like that can happen in America. Something similar happened in my town as well. It can definitely happen if you are in a small town, with not enough money in the budget to dedicate to the upkeep of the water system. It can also be pretty expensive to fix. It can happen anywhere, but it just depends on where you live, and how much money the city has.

E- coli aka coliform is common in most water supplies. I would get a sample and send it for a comprehensive study.

Usually this is found in wells from animal waste. Unless you have an immune defeciency it is ok.

Yes you can shower in it, but if you have open wounds, I would not. Avoid drinking the water until advisory has been lifted. Bring drinking water to a rolling boil for atleast 1 minute and let cool before drinking.

E coli comes from poop. Shower at your own risk. What on earth are they going to do about this? Someones sess pool or cow is pooping in your water supply.

I don't know how you could have e coli in your domestic water supply, unless you live in a 3rd world country.

This kind of stuff does not exist in America.

Some beaches may have a higher count of it then others, but water supplies are treated before being distributed.

I wouldn't try it because you may get some in your eye or up your nose or inside your private parts something like that. E. coli in any of those places can be trouble!

that is a very huge concern...don't listen to most of their responses !! 1 drop of bleach per gallon...or distill it by boiling it over a clean plate or something and drip it into a clean container.
