Your credit cannot be pulled without your permission. That is illegal. BUT...if you have an account with a company, they are authorized to do a credit check. For a company that you do not have a business relationship with, and you have not authorized to pull your credit, you need to file a complaint with the Federal Trade Commission. 1-877-382-4357, or online at www.ftc.gov

Credit checks are NOT done at random, they only happen when
YOU do something that requires the check. Like applying for
a loan or a credit card, a new job, a mortgage..to rent an apartment..etc. Credit checks only happen with your permission.

Ask the Federal Trade Commission (FTC). It's the government agency that regulates that kind of thing. They answer a lot of the public's inquiries -- they might even have an 800 number just for credit report questions.

Don't apply for anything that you need credit for, and don't apply for a job...
