home entrance is from north, on south side is lake, house length is mostly E to W in length, lots of windows all around.

whoever or whatever feng shui is I do not know...but it depends on the size of the room....and the shape of the room...you do not
wand the grain going the long direction of a rectangular room for that would surely make the room look longer...do an opposite direction to square up the room making it feel more inviting...you can even diagnal the grain...have fun with it...you have to live with it...not the contractor!

OK you do realize that feng shui is not a science, or even real. It is a way for phoney Designers to make a buck. Ask three Designers this question, and you'll get 6 different answers. Install your floor according to the manufacturers recommendations. Don't live your life through other peoples ideas, be original, stop following Phoney Fads.

not sure about that but i am sure that the hardwood has to run perpendicular to the floor joist or u void the warranty

Use parquet flooring, it really messes with the dragons.
