Because first of all many of them are selfish. They think the world revolves around them, their life, and their activities. Older brothers usually only care about themselves but if someone hurts you, they always have your back. Ah, thats sibling love; all siblings go through it, even same sex siblings. My sister used to hog the computer all the time before she moved to college when we were younger. It was annoying but hey, they're older, they think they run their little siblings.

Sadly, you'll find that when you're fifty, he'll still try sometimes to assert himself as your older brother. Remember you can only control your OWN behavior, not his. If he tries to boss you, keep your cool, show your maturity, and deal with him calmly and intelligently. If you lose your cool, he will point it out to you and use it against you! The best you can do is assert yourself, consistently address the BEHAVIOR (in other words, point out that he is trying to dominate you) rather than addressing his ACTIONS (such as hogging the computer). Keep doing this consistently, and even if he doesnt change soon, you will make your point very well!

Let me use my life as a example, I have three sons, all of which are very controling. I believe that it must have something to do with testosterone. They seem want to be dominante over the younger ones. It must be genetic! Men are taught at a very early age to be the strong ones , to be tough and be men, hence they tend to try to dominate over the younger siblings and spouses when they get older. Once you speak to him abuot your feelings and space, with any luck, he will be more considerate.

because first borns are jealous of their younger siblings because the older sibling got to see the younger siblings get more attention from their parents. Once u and your brother get older he will realize that he needs to be fair to you and he needs to realize that you parents try to be as fair as they can to both of you. I learned that when I was younger with my younger sister.

Older brothers are idiots. But other times you would be glad that he is in your life....probably not now but in the future you would be thankful that he is part of your life

You should be flattered than annoyed. That is what they are made to. They know what men does, so they are very protective of you.
Thank him for that and promise him you won't do foolishness,,,hehehehe,,, specially with boys..
He will be assured and perhaps give you more leeway.
