I just colored my hair brown, now I want to highlight it. Can I do this right after or should I wait another day?
I really want to do it right after.

I would wait a day so that the color has a chance to set once that is done then I would have someone help you put in the highlights.

You can most def. highlight it right away. If you think about it when most celebs or anyone else colors their hair they do highlight it RIGHT away. When my hairdresser colors mine, he color's it first and then puts in chuncky highlights (three different colors). Just make sure if you are doing it on your own that you have SOMEONE else helping you administer the highlights and do NOT get to close to your scalp as the color will spead and you'll end up with a "ring" of color in your hair. Leave about 1/4-1/8 inch of room between your hairstrand and your scalp. Also, make sure you condition your hair A LOT. Do not scimp on this as it'll make the color last longer. Use a nice shampoo for colored hair also.

You can go ahead and do your highlights now. Make sure the products and colors are compatable and test it on a strand of hair you cut from under the back first. Apply it to dry hair. If it doesn't show up light enough or takes too long, hit it with the hair dryer to make it work better but be careful or it will be too light. Start out very sparingly. You can always add more. It never hurts to call the numbers on the boxes. They will always take the cautious road..

It's fine. I just had mine colored professionally. I didn't even do highlights as she used a processer chemical from Sally's which you have to do only on the sections of hair to be highlighted and got a kick *** color we stopped without highlights.

When I have tried doing this at home it did not work so well. Nothing seemed to work over the brown hair color. But I would at least suggest wait a bit cause it is hard on your hair.

My salon studies have not been fairly honestly worth the quantity of funds I pay to get my hair colored, yet then again, they're more desirable helpful than my domicile-made jobs!!! i love my hair to be mild blonde and it would not take lengthy for those darkish roots to prepare, so i hit upon the salon job would not very last lengthy adequate to justify the fee. I oftentimes do my hair myself, yet i'm at the moment at a loss because my domicile-made job contains 2 tactics: (a million) lightening it first and then (2) including a Clairol Born Blonde non-peroxide toner for 20 minutes. Clairol has discontinued this particular Born Blonde non-peroxide toner, so i'm in search for of a alternative! meanwhile, my hair is searching orangey and that i hate it.

If you know what you're doing, you can do it with Bleach or with a product like Kalideocolor or Sunglitz, but Color won't lift Color-

if you do it and it comes out red or orange, reapply and leave it on 20 more minutes or so.

I would wait at least 2 weeks, though, so your hair isn;t fried.

I think you can do right after, when I went to get my highlights done they did the base first and washed it out and right after they did my highlights..so I think its safe.
