I have a puppy and kitten. I was picking up things off the floor and was overwhelmed with the smell of amonia . I was wondering which pet did this , so I can keep a closer eye on them. Thanks to all that replies.

The kitty did it - their pee is more ammoniated. When you clean it up, mop it down with water first and when it dries, you can buy this deoderizer from a pet store. Spray that on the affected area, that should take care of the smell, but be aware that nothing will completely get rid the carpet of cat or dog urine. The deoderizer will work for a period of time. People will tell you that it will; however, when you clean your carpet or have it professionally done, the urine smell will come out of the backing of the carpet. Don't let anyone tell you that there is anything that will permanently remove it - there isn't.

Did you use any cleaning product's on the floor Recently? If you Use anything containing bleach on a urine spot it will produce a strong amonia smell.

I don't think dogs pee has an ammonia smell to it. If your cat is a male, then it is probably from him. You need to have him fixed and that smell will go away. You also need to keep his box really clean so he doesn't pee on things. If you do keep it **** and span, (like clean it every other day, or every day if you're like me), and he still pees places he shouldn't that could be a sign of something wrong and needs to go to the vet.

I have noticed that dog pee tends to smell almost like old corn, whereas cat pee smells like an open bottle of ammonia.
My money is on the kitty.

It could've been either. When animals go to the bathroom and pee they have a small amount of ammonia in their urine (even humans).

You expect us to know who did that??? Weird!
"People that have animals would know who did it. I haven't had either that long. " Sweenygirl.
Comment TWO: Does it make you feel better now that you know that it was your cat?
