Strictly from a reliability standpoint the Intrepid is messy. Consumer Reports rates it well below its competitors in many areas, especially relability. And what I see supports those statements. You'll never see them sell for anything respectable once they're off the lot (not a good sign). You'll never see any Intrepid that looks like all it's body parts are fitting together well (really not good). Take a look inside and you'll see loosely fitted, cheap plastics typical of most dodge vehicles.
If all you were concerned with was a car with a strong engine and didn't care about its integrity you could choose the Intrepid. But you STILL wouldn't get an engine that's refined and could stand the test of time. Put your money into something that's going to hold together.

Yes I love that car any year is a good one for these babies and the earlier ones have the nicest body hum just like people. The name is the best I have heard for a car since mustang. Hope that helps. My Dad drove the very first one in Canada before anyone else had one,got lots of looks. He worked for Chrysler for 35 years and has had a new car every three years not because there was anything wrong with them it was just because he can, hope that helps . I read the gentleman's remark on intrepids saleability. I beg to differ My Dad drove his first intrepid for over a year then wanted something larger. He took it back to the dealership and got exactly what he paid for it in trade very cool.
I doubt that happens everyday but he did have the first one, they could not keep up with the orders so happily bought it back. â
Buying used you must take into account the previous ownership and car care so do a lot of research before you purchase your vehicle. Again take care ~A~

There are many sites that do reliability ratings.
Personally the best I feel is consumer reports, but they don't make there's free. My recommendation is to go into your local public library and ask for the consumer reports year end rating book. They have excellent information on how the car rates in terms or reliability.
Some sites with free infomation on line can be found here:
http://autos.msn.com/research/vip/reliability.aspx?year=2002&make=Dodge&model=Intrepid
Go here and select your year, make and model
http://www.jdpower.com/autos/usedratings.asp
These sites will give you a better idea than any one person on this site.

when they did the last protection coating ,it screwed up the head light lenses they all get foggy looking and need to be wet sanded to fix them.changing the lenses does not help ,all the lenes are that way. the car itself is a good car and runs great you just can`t see well at night ,unless you do the lenes....
