Because this government, and their acolytes, have moved the goal'post from equality of opportunity to equality of outcome. As a result of this, they have introduced 'positive discrimination' to ensure that they achieve their perverted aims.
They thought that, in the areas of life that they have chosen to meddle, equality of opportunity would solve the numbers problem for them. When that didn't work they decided to rig the system to ensure that the numbers came right, according to 'lefty' thinking.
It isn't long ago that positive discrimination was illegal, rightly so, but we hadn't reckoned on this government, the EU, feminists, Educationalists, the TV media and a host of other 'on side' lefties taking things to these extremes. Women have almost been ordered not to stay at home and look after their children, but to go out to work instead.
But, I entirely agree with you, that when left wing dogma and social engineering, takes precedence over getting the best person for the job, you know that you have a government that is more interested in ideaology than in achieving best results.
You know, the public have been so painfully slow to realise what has been going on in their name in recent years, I despair.

Because you couldnt treat anyone equally if the concept was implanted surgically into your brain. You have a one-sided view of fairness and think political correctness was invented to make your life inconvenient. The very ideology of capitalism means from the first nappy change every man woman and child in the 'developed world' becomes an exploiter for life. When you get fed up of the accusations, you defend your 'way of life' with a thick desensitised skin. Finally you switch of your brain.

Positive discrimination should be outlawed and we should go back to the days when you succeeded on your merits alone.

The correct term is Affirmative Action. We are not allowed to 'call a spade a spade'. Its like saying 'criminal border crossers' instead of 'undocumented workers'.
BTW, I agree with your point even if 'Positive' doesn't really apply. Its just discrimination against different people.

Unfortunately because of so much discrimination in the past, many women, ethnic minorities and disabled people were not given chances. This means that in many top jobs you have people who did not deserve to be there. Instead of sacking those people, positive discrimination can help in SOME cases to redress the balance.

nicely, that surely relies upon on how u look at issues. Intellectually, men and ladies are the two and could continually be taken care of the two. yet God did create adult males to be bodily greater suitable to females. however that' nonetheless no reason to no longer cope with every physique as an equivalent.

You really don't have any worries about PD. It only works in theory. Most areas where PD is employed, the minorities are so under-represented as to make no difference. You can be gynaecologist. Go on!
