Tea Tree Oil...........put all the pillows and brushes and stuff in a plastic bag for a couple of days with it. You can mix it with some shampoo and wash the hair too. Works great.

I have heard from the denizens of the Lee Street punk house in Greensboro that if you don't have the time or $ to invest in the RID lice removal kit (I hear the fine toothed comb is a real b*tch to use if your hair is more than 6" long), that you can bleach your hair with L'Oreal or Miss Clairol, etc., and kill the little suckers in no time. Something about the formula asphyxiates them if you leave it on an extra five minutes. Plus it doesn't stink as bad as the RID kit, and it's less embarrassing to buy at the store. Plus, you can tell folks you just wanted to see what you looked like as a blonde (who knows? you might like it).
Don't forget to wash all your clothes in superhot water, with bleach on the whites and colorsafe bleach on all others. It might be worth it to invest the $ you save on not buying the RID kit and washing all your clothes & linens at the local laundromat to prevent recontamination.
Then dump the boyfriend who gave you cooties. LOL
Sorry to hear about it, seriously, and good luck.

You can buy a medicated shampoo at your local CVS or drug store. You also have to clean your WHOLE house. vacuum everywhere, change sheets, wash pillows or place them in the dryer for like an hour, wash and clean everything you can think of. Oh, stuffed animals and most things made of fabric. Then do the shampoo again in two weeks. Lice only live about 48 hours unless they have a host to live off of.
Good Luck

get your hair wet and scrub it with listerine ( like the mouth wash) then rinse out keep your hair in a hair net for a day and then take it off. you can shower after 2 days.
how it works is the intoxicated smell of listerine suffocates the lice and they loosen grip and then fall out.
its not hard to get rid of lice but it is very hard to get it off things like pillows and bed sheets. so two options for after you get lice is to either throw every thing away or put it thru a power wash thingy. hope this helped!!

THE BEST THING TO USE!!!
Mix some oil and vinegar and saturate the hair (can also add petroleum).
You can also look for more options here:
