It is safe to use on dogs, and it will help to treat his runs in the meantime. Here's the dosage information for dogs:
Pepto-Bismol regular strength liquid: Dogs: 0.5-1 ml/pound every 6-8 hours by mouth. Regular strength tablets (often the form preferred by dogs): 1/4 tablet/20 pounds every 6-8 hours by mouth. Treatment should only be needed for 1-2 days.
And remember, this is not the same for cats, just as a forewarning. It should ONLY be used on cats under direct veterinary supervision.

If your dog has the runs, take his food away, keep him off food for 24 hours, which is ample time for his system to clear its self of what the problem is. After that, feed him a small bland diet, white rice and a little bit of chicken ( no spices, no salts), cook that up and give them just a bit, if you puppy continues to have the runs, by then it will be Monday, and you'll be able to take him to the vet, and at least his GI tract hasn't been further irritated by his food, and if there is a predisposing factor to his runs (viral infection, obstruction, parasites) the blan diet is very gentle on their tract and will not irritate it further. It is highly recommended you continue giving them ample water, and making sure they are drinking because the biggest concern with the runs is dehydration which can be fatal, or even cause kidney damage. I'm a retiered Vet Tech, I recommend taking to the Vet (even an emergency Vet Clinic) before you give them Pepto Bismol ( which can have some adverse side effects on you dog). Try the blan diet.....

No. You cannot give canines Pepto-Bismol.
However, You CAN give them Kaeopectate. It can control diarrhea and it has the added benefit of absorbing. This could lead to less of whatever is bothering your dog.
Most vets have an emergency number for after hours. Call the office number and listen for an emergency number. Most will not charge you for simple advice over the phone to get you through the weekend.

I'm not sure about pepto bismol.
You could try chicken and rice. Boil chicken (without skin) and cook rice, mix and serve. I know this won't hurt your dog and will provide him some nutrients and encourage him to drink water. Dehydration can occur quickly with diarrhea.
Even if the diarrhea stops, take him to vet anyway. Diarrhea is a sign that something else is going on.

i'm sorry ,yet i imagine you want to chang Vet,as not a lot of a Vet if do not recognize what to do for parvo.Your puppy needs to be placed in a vet health facility,or its opportunities for survival are narrow.you could attempt eliminating its water and replace with the newborn non-flavored pediolyte, enable it drink all it needs,or it truly is going to dehydrate.also supply the puppy a dab of undeniable honey,or white karo syrup on its tongue to circumvent sugar element from getting too low. After the puppy's abdomen has settled from eating the pediolyte attempt boiling some fowl, decrease in small products, put in blender with small quantity of water and puree it.If puppy refuses to eat or drink, you should rigidity feed it ,or you'll free this puppy.you could also attempt giving it about one million/3 teaspoon of Pepto Bismol each and every 4 to 6 hrs.call vet and ask them to provide you a perscription of an antibiotic to help strive against this virus.wish you success which includes your puppy, and the most to it really is only be particular to work out that the puppy drinks and eats properly. If this puppy has parvo, any pets that are available in contact with it that hasn't been vaccinated for parvo will seize it,you should sparkling all ecosystem and sterlize to guard the different pets and confine the single with the parvo til it receives ok.

No PEPTO, no food either and make sure he has enough water so he does not dehydrate. Give it 24 hours and then see. You should find out why the dog is sick. You should always have an emergency Vet Clinic phone# you can call other than your own VET.
MALOX is suitable for dogs.

I second the canned pumpkin advise, just make sure it's plain pumpkin w/ no spices added. While pepto is safe for dogs (my vet told me to give it to mine when he was gassy) your dog may not take it. My boy is a serious pill popper and completely balked at the taste of the pepto. Make sure you get him to a vet asap even if you get the diarrhea under control, there is likely a more serious issue at hand.

Yes you can give your dog pepto bismol I find it easier to give them the chewable tablets.. depending on the size of the dog the liquid can be a real pain to get them to take it unless you have a cather tip syringe or turkey baster to squeeze it down their throats...
