Honest answer, spun Kevlar body armor is very much like the fiberglass in motorcycle helmets. When the plate has a hard impact against it, it begins to break down the integritiy of the plate. OK OK I know you are saying "But it is supposed to stop bullets!!!" Two things to notice, one is that your vest is padded (for shock) and the other is to look at it like this, if you just fling it around not worry about it hitting hard surfaces and what not, for a period of say 6 months on a daily basis. That one day when you are in a firefight and you get hit by your first round, that body armor may only be able to handle the impact stress of that one round making the "multiple impact" body armor useless after round two. Just something to think about.

Eric is exactly right. Kevlar is a miracle product, but not completely impervious. Any blow of a certain G-Load or higher will slightly weaken the material. Repeatedly mishandling the unit could damage it to a point where it won't stop a projectile that it normally would. Think about your football helmet from back in high school. Sure, it's supposed to protect your head and does a good job, but you wouldn't just go throwing it around willy-nilly because you recognize that such treatment will deteriorate the protection ability. Same idea here.

It would be fatal to cause a breach in body armor wouldn't it? So the warning is in the off chance it could happen.
