according to the King James Bible (KJV) yes he did in black and white...

Isiah 45:7 - "I form the light and create darkness, I make peace and create evil, I the lord do these things"

However if you want to read a pathetic poorly translated book such as the KJV then interpritation could mean anything.. as so many things have been ommited and its translation was one to suit the purpose translators If this book was ever Gods word then i fear that Satan was the publisher and editor...

I do belive that the best place for this publication is infact the furnace...

To really find the answer to this question.. which is a very good question then your going to have to ask god yourself because who knows?

Looking on the scientific side though if God creates Good then how could good be defined as good if there was nothing to define it against so therfore i would have thought that Evil would have been hand in hand with the creation of good

Well to cut it short.. Erm I'm not sure!..

Good question that I've thought of often in my life. And after having reviewed some of the answers you have already received, I'd have to say yes, God created evil by creating a universe that included an absence of Him. It's hard to understand why He would do so, but in giving us complete free will to follow him, or not, it seems He would have to give us the consequences for our choice. Him / Good. Not Him / Evil. What choices we make are ours, but He gave us the free will to choose. Hmmmm. Scarey thought. Forgive me if I'm wrong, Lord Jesus my Christ. God Bless you.

You know every thing has two sides, you can do one thing and have one result , do another get another result. God did not create Evil for Evils sake .He did create Lucifer the Messenger, and the Messenger ( Angel)
chose to do things his own way. We Now have a choice . God has gave us freely to choose his way ,or the opposing way. The Results are clearly defined In Gods word. the logic is the same as gravity.

Yes, Everything in life is about balance. Good and Evil are defined by their reactions to each other. Maybe God did it as a test on true individuality and reason and He requires us to show the strength required to do what is right opposed to what is easy. Everyone would be good if it were always easy.

We have been given the gift of life. He's asking us to earn it.

it seems not many christians actually read the bible for the bible claims that god created evil.

I am the Lord, and there is none else, there is no God beside me...I form the light, and create darkness: I make peace, and create evil. I the Lord do all these things

If one believes that God created everything...

then one could conclude that God created Evil.

Evil is a judgment that is specific to the point of view of the one passing the judgment, or deciding that the action constitutes evil. It does not exist outside of the mind of the one judging the action as evil.

Others may agree who hold a similar point of view but this does not make it real. Someone viewing the situation from a separate or opposite point of view will see the situation differently.
Often viewing the same action as a good or positive turn of events.

Evil is the name we give to things that we wish had not happened, and to the people who do these things.

Good is the name we give to things that we like. What is good for one group may be considered bad to some other group who sees things from a divergent point of view.

Evil is only a thought in our minds, unless we fool ourselves into thinking it is external and that it may seek to do us harm. This is a trick that we play on ourselves, no more no less.
