Flight is Sunday 8/20 at 6:35 am. Have already seat assigment and boarding pass. American says you can do curbside baggage check, and self check-in in the terminal. This is for a domestic flight.

I haven't flown since the terrorist activity and new rules that have gone into effect, but I would imagine you'd need to get there earlier than normal. I'd call the airline and even LAX to ask them. I think they're getting pretty strict about no carry ons now, best to call to get their recommendations.

I traveled from LAX to Detroit, on a Saturday night redeye 3 days after the new rules. I arrived 2 hours ahead of time (8 PM for a 10PM flight) and was fine. Like you, I had already printed out a boarding pass and just had to check bags. I was flying Northwest.
