I have a big chocolate lab and he smells dreadful right now and is trying to paw all over me. Should I blow dry him? My son usually does the bath, but has to work and cant do it this week.

Blow drying doesn't help. You should buy some doggy cologne for in between baths.

First of all he smells after a bath because HE IS A DOG and i don't recommend blow drying him unless your just tired of him pawing you as this will probably keep him away from you for at least 2 days towel him dry then wash towels they love rubbin

I have a golden retriever and we had this same problem. The main reason he smelled so bad was that the inside of his ears needed to be cleaned out. Once we got his ears cleaned well, he smelled much better after his bath. Also - try several different dog shampoos. Dogs with undercoat - like labs - are made to be water resistant - it is hard to get their undercoat wet. You need to really soak them and use lots of dog shampoo and lots of scrubbing to get them wet down to the skin. Blow drying him may help too. Staying wet makes them stinkier

Absolutely Blow dry!!! Low temperature though. it helps. Won't help for long if after you bathe and dry him if he goes back outside in the yard though.

There are also doggy cologne that are safe to use on dogs you can get at your local pet store. My dogs wear C- Canine after Calvin Klein's famous CK Nine.

Dog with shorter slicked (oiled) coats tend to have a more pronounced smell. It will never go away. Let the dog air dry. He isn't going to be modeling is he.

Ok- here's the deal. A bath is great but from time to time, dogs need to have their anal glands expressed. You can do it but I never have - a vet or groomer will do it for you. THAT is what causes the smell - look it up!
