It is mostly the owners who are a fault when it comes to human aggression. The only dogs who should EVER be human aggressive are highly trained guard dogs and service dogs. Certain breeds are prone to become aggressive however... dogs who are not trained can become aggressive on thier own, but that is still the fault of the owners neglect.

When it comes to canine aggression one of the biggest problems is socialization. Dogs need to be around other dogs when they are young, this is how they learn to act. Certain breeds, no matter how much you love them, fight in a different manner than other breeds. Pitt bulls, Am Staffs, Dogue de Bordeaux, Blue Blood Bull Dogs, and related breeds have inherent traits which make them more dangerous around other dogs. No, Pitt Bulls are not always aggressive, a large portion of them are relaxed and playful, most are good with children. The fact is that those breeds and a handful of others fight to the death when they do fight. Most canines fight to establish dominance and when one dog submits it's over... a Pitt won't submit, nor will it allow the other dog to submit without intervention. You're Pitt may not ever start a fight, but it will always finish one....

Sorry to beat on Pitts, they get a bad rap, many are nice, most no human should ever fear. The facts are what they are, certain breeds aren't necessarily more aggressive, but they don't know when to stop...

Dogs aren't born bad; they are made bad by irresponsible and cruel owners. However, good owners make great dogs. Think about it: in the man/dog relationship, the dog owner needs to be the alpha. I know it sounds kind of mean, but that is the only way to keep that kind of relationship on a good note. I'm not saying the dog owner needs to beat the dog on a regular basis, but they have to let the dog know that they [human] is the top of the totem pole and to follow justly. If that alpha is a cruel, sadistic human who thinks no more of their pet than of their shoes, they will create a mean, unstable dog-like creature.

9 out of 10 times it is the owner that as made them that way. The rest are usually because there was something wrong with the dog.

Yep, I believe there are no bad dogs, just bad owners.

The owners definitely play a big part in how the dogs temperament turns out (especially if you know both parents of the dog and they have sweet temperaments)

Some breeds are predisposed to a certain degree of aggression. On the other hand you could take a yorkie and make it mean, you can take a rottweiler and make it gentle.

Although I truly believe the environment the dog was exposed to determines the dog's disposition and temperament.

The people that encourage aggression in their dogs are often lacking in human traits like confidence, the ability to be social in a variety of different settings with a variety of different people. They substitute their shortcomings by teaching aggression to their dogs to attain acceptance and a false sense of confidence.

In short, aggression in dogs is taught.

Its obvious that you can train a dog to attack - but there are also pet dogs who are prone to conceal a neurotic streak. It is no different from any other animal - like humans - most of us are pretty sociable but occasionally you find a mass murderer.

I had a pair of Staffashire Bull Dogs which everyone feared. Teddy bears they were. wouldn't hurt anyone. My wife's kittens used to climb all over them. Show me a dog and I will describe it's owner.
